Dislocated his shoulder in the Under 20s Origin clash.

Out for at least a month.

Ash Taylor to stay in NYC for the remainder of the year now that developing his potential isn't our concern?

That may have something to do with it.

Get the feeling that injuries and the run home to the finals is also apart of it. Have him help us win a premiership instead of sending him to Souths Logan who are one of the battlers in the QRL.

I arrived just as Taylor was lining up a conversion at 18-6. It was only moments out from half-time so I really only caught the second half.

The theme of the second half seemed to be that everytime the Tigers did anything good, they'd find a way to shoot themselves in the foot and the Broncos would make them pay. That was clear in their opening set where they made a basic mistake from dummy half as a result of some good pressure from Hipgrave. That put Brisbane on the attack and despite doing well to sustain pressure, they failed to come away with points as Fai got a little greedy and crossed off a double movement.

Byrnes turned defence into attack as a mid-field bomb ricocheted off his shins, allowing him to race 60 odd metres where he kept trying to turn Marshall-King inside and out (Yow Yeh on JT style) before eventually succumbing to the tackle. Unfortunately, a loose pass from dummy half saw Berrell spill it, denying Brisbane another opportunity to post points.

This gave the Tigers a sniff, as Hipgrave got over-eager and gave away a penalty that put the Tigers on the attack. They came really close to scoring and really should have through Seve but some great defence by Drew & Te Rupe on the line denied them. It proved to be Wests best opportunity to score as they ran an obstruction play that deprived them of possession and territory.

Drew and Te Rupe's defensive effort proved to be a huge play in the game as it allowed Brisbane to skip down field where Taylor summed up the situation perfectly with a well placed grubber for Te Rupe. Nikau had to race the ball to the sideline, but the big fella did really well to plant the ball down and extend the lead.

I guess since Taylor wasn't kicking that well, they went with Paul Byrnes for a kick, but he didn't do much better.

Brisbane 22-6 @ 54 minutes

Few sets later the Tigers were able to hit back relatively comfortably. A bomb by Ash Taylor went a little too deep, enabling the Tigers to go on the front foot where they earned themselves a penalty before running a play at Ash Taylor who couldn't stop it.

Brisbane 22-12 @ 60 minutes

Fortunately the Broncos hit straight back off a Tigers mistake. Wests were actually looking really strong off the kick off, but a poor mistake by one of the Wests forwards in the play the ball put Brisbane right on the attack. It didn't take Taylor long to call the ball and the young half summed the situation up perfectly with a great cut-out pass to Drew who ran into space to score.

Taylor took back the kicking duties to make it...

Brisbane 28-12 @ 63 minutes

Brisbane were on the attack again but squandered it I believe when Saitaua chose to go from dummy half on the last instead of giving it to one of his halves. Brisbane gave up two consecutive penalties and through the weight of possesion Wests scored a fairly soft try up the middle. Sam Gee and Keegan Hipgrave were off with their contact and their big prop just crashed through the middle.

Brisbane 28-18 @ 67 minutes

Just as Wests were looking like they could cause a late scare, Paul Byrnes fielded a bomb and made a great 40m or so kick return that put Brisbane on the attack. This put the Tigers defence in sixes and sevens which Taylor picked up on as he showed great foot-work to put Drew over for another try.

Brisbane 34-18 @ 72 minutes

Wests kicked out on the full but Brisbane couldn't capitilise at first because Hipgrave pulled a Dave Taylor and tried to pick up a loose pass one handed before spilling it. It didn't affect Brisbane too much as Taylor put Byrnes through with a great inside pass that saw the fullback score a well deserved try. The play reminded me a lot of Reed's try, the pass was every bit as good as Milford's.

Brisbane 40-18 @ 79 minutes

Unfortunately the Tigers were able to retrieve their kick off and scored another try by simply running a play at Taylor. Leaving the scores at...

Brisbane 40-24 Full-Time

It wasn't the best performance from the 20s but you get the feeling that this is a team chocced filled with plenty of talented players and if you give them an opportunity, they'll make you pay on the scoreboard. Have a few things they need to work out defensively, particularly with contact and controlling the ruck but it's what you come to expect of players at that age and with a few regulars missing.
