Paul White faces health issue

I'm pretty sure they interviewed him on this, I can't be sure it was him though. Triple M today had a snippet of someone saying "There is more chance I'm going to the moon".

I didnt say an idiot could do it, I just would think it'd be the easiest to run with all the advantages we have.

We had Bruno Cullen so we know an idiot can do it. Just badly.

They're a proper listed business, so I would say he's probably got a harder job than most NRL CEOs because he needs to deal with actually running a business, not pretending he's a businessman in charge of a football club.

This.

Well Cullen stuffed the Bellamy deal according to Lockyer, White sacked his mate to bring back Bennett so hes already streets ahead on that front.

THE Broncos have received a boost with highly-respected chief executive Paul White keen to remain at Red Hill until the end of 2019.

On a dramatic day on which the premiership-leading Broncos were forced to deny rumours of a player rift, White provided some stability by revealing his intention to serve another term at the club.

White is off contract after the season and was hailed days ago by Penrith supremo Phil Gould as the best administrator in Australian sport.

The 50-year-old is currently waging the biggest battle of his life with a brain tumour but has told Broncos chairman Dennis Watt he has unfinished business at Red Hill.

White, who has presided over the Broncos’ high-performance centre project, hopes to sign a three-year extension in the next fortnight.

“It would be premature to say that the contract is finalised because it’s not, but I have told my chairman and my coach that I am keen to stay,” White said.

“Hopefully it can be sorted out in the next few weeks.

“In view of the fact that there were rumours circulating, it’s appropriate that I let people know that it is my intention to extend my current contract with the Broncos.

“Stability is an important thing within footy clubs and our members and sponsors deserve to know my intentions.

“I haven’t signed a new deal but I would like to remain at the club and hopefully we can formalise a deal.’’

Gould said he would love to see White in charge of the Panthers but the former Mt Isa detective is craving more success at the Broncos.

“I haven’t been in discussions with other clubs,” he said. “The thing I had to get clear in my mind was that I could offer the club the right energy and leadership to drive the club forward.

“No one is owed a job anywhere, you have to earn the right and I still believe I can continue to do that for the footy club.

“There is plenty of work still to be done, our staff have been great and to see 30,000 at a Thursday night game (against the Dragons) is a fantastic result.”

White is confident he can juggle the pressures of running the Broncos with his ongoing health battle.

“I’m in a good space health-wise and I’m highly motivated to keep doing the job well,” he said.

“Even in my toughest times, I’ve maintained a presence at work and where I couldn’t be at work I’ve conducted meetings at my house.

“From that point of view, I’m handling things well and doing full days at work. The diagnosis continues to be increasingly positive with each scan but there is a level of caution with knowing what’s ahead as well.”

I thought he was in the clear. Hope all is well on that front.

Good to see him keen to stick around, he seems to be doing a good job.

I'm glad to hear he wants to stick around, he seems like a really good man to have steering the ship around.
