1994 was Menzies.

He had 16 in 23 games, which is still pretty good for a forward and rookie.
...That whole Manly backrow of Gartner, Kovic & Menzies were all good in their debut season...so was Elsegood.....arguably his bests season though..??

DCE looked so comfortable in first grade it was crazy. Especially considering he apparently hadn’t had heaps of wraps in lower grades.

2011 was such an amazing year for the NRL.

We had Lockyer’s final season.

You had DCE debut in that stacked Manly team and look like he’d played 10 seasons already.

Shaun Johnson burst on to the scene midseason and hadn’t been figured out yet. He was doing things to defence that no one had the right to do.

Benji Marshal was in the midst of his second peak.

Ben Barba was starting to rev up, showing signs of what was to come in 2012.

To top it all off the Hayne - Slater rivalry was in full effect.

I think it was my favourite season that didn’t include bronco success.

Another what if year. If it were not for beale's knee, who knows?

In saying that, lockyer's last touch to be kicking a field goal to win the broncos a game felt pretty fitting.

I was praying that he’d stick around for one more after that.

I dunno, DCE had been hyped at lower grades for a while. I remember hearing about him in the mid-late 00's before he had even made his Q Cup debut. Then he won POTY/RPOTY in his debut season.

Was the Colt Player of the Year in 2007, then played 20s for Manly from 2008-09 and made the Team of the Year in 2009. Then in 2010 he won the Courier Mail Medal (PotY) with the Sunshine Coast Falcons.

Didn't have the wraps on him like Sandow but he wasn't exactly an unknown as you said.

It's been 8 years, but from memory it just seemed like he kept getting better as the season wore on. Started off quiet, but worked on his combinations and by the end point he became a focal point of the attack. He threatened to spoil Lockyer's party at Suncorp, only to do the Broncos in during the semis.

Noticed Haas is in the top 10 running metres out of all NRL players for season 2019 despite missing the opening month of footy and making his Origin debut.

Not bloody bad for a guy playing in a position that mere mortals don’t mature into until at least mid 20’s.

He is leaps ahead of his age on the field.

He also didn't eat for a month.

Oh don't worry he ate that month. It's just that he was restricted from eating during daylight hours. Once the sun went down he was heavy on the fang until sunup. he was also allowed to eat and drink normally during flights.

Still it must have been hard passing away water and power drinks during training.
