Petition to sack Cullen

I think it is quite evident this year that the mass player exodus last year is a direct result of Cullen not thinking smartly about our team. He let nearly our entire forward pack go elsewhere and is the reason Bennett left for the Dragons! If he stays he will burn the team to the ground!

I'm going to live dangerously and put this out there also. Lockyer needs to retire. He is getting too old. He is not going to get back to his best form that he was in, in 2006. I think we need to look for a replacement and in my eye the only person so far for that is K. He needs to be developed into a 5/8 as Locky was back in the day. I can't believe that again, Cullen is going to let young talent go to keep and ageing Legend! Don't get me wrong, Locky is a God, but he is not playing good football anymore, he is not attacking the line and he just doesn't seem to have the vision he used to! Does anyone else think this?

Yeah I'll jump on the Cullen sackage band wagon. He's got some sort of vendetta about being "the boss" at the club but has made some horrible decisions in the past three years (Civoniceva, Bennett to name 2) that are just disgusting little man power-broker moves that prove his chip on the shoulder lack of leadership ability.

I partly agree about Locky, but the problem with the Broncos is that Lockyer's absence is an excuse to lose. Last night, other than Hodges and Hunt, the team has no heart or competitve instinct. It was just horrible. And part of that problem is the "lockyer excuse".

Wasn't the fault of Cullen that Civoniceva or Bennett leaving it was Civoniceva & Bennett's fault.

Also I read that Ennis wanted to go back to Sydney, so no matter what we offered him he was leaving.

If you were objective you would realise Cullen doesn't make the recruitment decisions for our club.. he would give the OK on how much they are paid but that would be it. Though i'd say close to the two most influential moves which culminated in last nights embarrassment are probably his doing (WB and Petero leaving).

Personally i have never been a fan of him, and think his professionalism leaves a little to be desired. It really irks me how he always seemed to have an opinion on how the football side was going.. your job is in the office buddy... and do agree that it seems like he has a bit of an ego.

One of WB's favorite sayings was that the professionalism and success of a football side starts in the front office.

get rid of him, he sucks

Actually I saw an interview a couple of weeks ago and out of Ennis' own mouth were the words "I thought I'd found a home at the Broncos and wanted to stay there, but they went another way. But that's footy, and I'm happy at the Dogs." So, for some reason someone in the club (whether it was Cullen or Henjak or whoever) decided Ennis wasn't in our plans.

Personally I think Bruno has gotten too involved with the footy side of things. That was always one of the big keys to Bennett's success - he had an agreement with every CEO that they would run the club and he would run the team. That isn't going to work for every club/coach, but it really did/does work for Bennett/Broncos. Cullen started interfering too much in the team for Bennett's liking, hence why he started looking to leave and would have gone to the Roosters if Gould had kept his mouth shut and not leaked it. I would be more than happy to see him depart the scene (in fact I'd love to see Ribot back in the top chair).

Re Locky, I think it's time for him to give rep footy away. I think he still has another 2 good years of club footy left in him.

I totally agree. We used to be the envy of the NRL. The most professional team both on and off the field. Now we're a rabble, both on and off the field. I think last year some people were saying that Bennett had changed and it was his fault, but he's gone to the Dragons now and completely turned that club around (both on and off the field - I feel like a broken record). Bruno came in, messed with the way things were running, and now it's HIS football team/mess.

This quote that I read today sealed it for me:

Karmichael hasn't confirmed anything. There has been newspaper stories strongly indicating he is (going overseas) but I've heard other stories that suggest perhaps he's not.

We are two months away from the end of the season and he DOESN'T KNOW?!? what one of our star players is doing next year?? He is relying on newspapers for his information?? If he's telling the truth then what a freaking joke.

I also agree re. Locky. He is not the player he used to be, that much is clear, but that doesn't mean he has nothing to offer. You don't go from everything to nothing in three months. Time to give up rep football, but I'd be quite happy for him to hang around for another year or two (on less pay of course).

Its pretty evident that Civoniceva leaving had alot more to do with Wayne Bennet than Bruno Cullen. Read between the lines (well you dont even have to do that) things that Petero has said since leaving its quite obvious that was the case.

Count me in too. The incompetence of the man is perfectly illustrated by the fact that he released Greg Eastwood to effectively play for the Bulldogs. Even the Bulldogs were smart enough to stipulate that SBW can't play for another club, but sadly Bruno isn't.

This is a ridiculous thread. Enough of the hysterics and calls for sackings. We're not Eastern Suburbs...

Cullen isn't responsible for four 40 point defensive efforts over the last six weeks. We've got a playing group who aren't standing up for the jersey. We're leaking points, have no defensive spine - that's our problem.

As a long time supporter that's tough to cop.

This thread is no more ridiculous than your post. Cullen might not be responsible for recent results, but he is responsible for player retention and signings and has a big influence over the culture at the club. Let's take a look at some of Bruno's wonderful actions:

1) Releases Greg Eastwood to play ESL, but fails to state that he cannot play for another NRL club. As a result, Eastwood goes to play with the Bulldogs, along with Ben Hannant and Michael Ennis. Bravo Bruno [eusa_clap.gi

2) Fines Thaiday, Boyd and Hunt 20k and lets them play in the semi final for that incident. Fines Joel Clinton 50k and drops him for inviting a woman back to his room. Wow, really, that's so great. I'm sure that kind of decision would do wonders for morale and sense of fairness at the club. No, really. Bruno did great here [eusa_clap.gi

3) Re-signs Steve Michaels instead of Darius Boyd. Superb choice that _woohoo_

So whilst he may not be responsible for the 40pt losses, he is responsible for a hell of a lot else that has gone wrong. And even if you think this isn't his fault, he should still be fired, because if this isn't the CEO's fault, then clearly the CEO is a waste of space and having one is a waste of money. So either way, I fail to see why Bruno should stay.

I just saw some Berrick magic for the Wallabies, I still believe if we had played him enough and WB and Bruno had given the guy a decent contract he would be the Australian halfback right now, he is a deadset legend. It makes me depressed watching him play union.

we would never have been able to match unions offer, besides he wanted to play 5/8 but we had our own champion 5/8 in Darren Lockyer

Lockyer was the best fullback in the world then and could have easily stayed there. The least we could have done was make an effort to play the kid (who was great everytime he got a run) and to offer him something to stay. We basically let him go without a fight and used the "the door is open for him to come back" excuse to try and justify it, its worse than losing Civo and Priddis IMO.

+1

It was a shame that Berrick didn't play a lot of games for us. I hated that WB didn't put him in the starting line up a lot and hated that Bruno didn't retain him. They kept Brett Seymour instead.

He's the one that got away...

Bruno has to go I will sign this petition in a heart beat....
