Pick the teams, who you think will make the GF

Storm are probably using a AFL team's rehab facilities etc.

Their programs etc would be far superior to ours.

But it amazes me ALL other clubs struggle. Surely Storm's methods are known by now.
Honestly I doubt it.

EVERY club has bad luck with injuries, you can have all the programs you want but you can't stop injuries like what happened to Thurston, or Lawrence or random ACL's and so on.

I think there's a lot of luck involved.

Definitely.

Whilst I don't doubt that Melbourne have an excellent medical team and rehab program, those don't account for bad luck... which doesn't seem to ever hit them in the injury department.

I believe that the injuries are linked to the person's training etc.

Take Hodges, he may not do enough warm ups, stretches, strength exercises etc & that's why he is plagued by hammy injuries

You can help prevent ACL injuries. You can help prevent many types of injuries actually. Hence the word "HELP"...There is some which are pure bad luck (like a hip dislocation wtf) but there is so many programs in place that can help prevents all sorts of different injuries.

It's not always just luck.

Newcastle Knights - best example. Most injury prone team I've ever seen. They have never had a break with injures, it's truly remarkable and can't be just luck.
I have no doubt that it can help but they seem to be the ONLY club which is blessed with injuries.

When is the last time Melbourne have had any injury dramas?
Can anyone find a single article in the past 5-7 years about Melbourne injury worries?

We've been smashed by injuries in many years, like 2007 we lost pretty much everyone, Locky in 2008, etc.

It just annoys me that Melbourne don't get their fair share or even close to it :(

It has to be their training/recovery programs.

Folau was injury free at the Storm, came to us & was 'plagued' by them.

Maybe, or maybe a lot of luck is involved.

Inglis injured his hip during a game and miss ~6 weeks, coincidence? Maybe, maybe not.
I think Folau's injury was a fractured ankle, not a medical expert but I don't think there's much you can do to prevent something like that which happens from rolling the ankle, twisting it, extreme flexing of the joint or excessive force by coming down on it hard.

His other injury was a separation of his left A/C shoulder joint. The most common cause for that injury is severe sudden impact or landing awkwardly on your arm.

There's massively rich soccer clubs that have injury troubles, I would assume their medical teams and rehab programs are far more advanced than anything an Australian Rugby League club has.

A lot of that is really not preventable. As good as their medical teams and rehab programs are I think they are blessed with more than their fair share of luck.

Folau's main injury was a busted ankle when Carroll fell on him. No program could stop that!

But that's what I mean. The storm seem to avoid the accidents like that. Is it down to how well practiced they are in defence that they never get in awkward positions?

I dunno there was stories of their players getting choked out at the height of the grapple tackle so that would feel pretty awkward!

There is often stories of how they use state of the art rehab gear and monitoring of player health et al.

Rocky's prediction about the Tigers is looking better after last night.

I expect them to enter these finals with a wet sail.

Still no chance IMO. I guess one typical flukey win is enough to beat your chest and to become premiership contenders

Well they were allowed to get away with an NFL try.

Well it certainly wasn't an 80 minute performance. A few quick tries and a lucky one at that.

It's absolutely stupid to say never to the Tigers. You can never write them off, they are always a chance. They have to be one of the most unpredictable teams I've ever seen. They were outplayed by Manly in that first half, however they weren't playing bad, they were just competing against a better team. Then they came out in the second half, toughened up a bit and ended up scoring 3 tries in 6 minutes against one of the premiership favourites. Like wtf? Their ability to pull tries out of nowhere is just remarkable. Marshall's no look pass to Lawrence was not human.

Agree completley Rock, you can never write them off. They are just getting somewhere close to their best side on the field as well.
Also they looked like they were struggling with some kind of internal club problem for a while which seems to have been resolved.

They need to win another premiership in the next 2 years or the club will have wasted the talents of Marshall and Farrer IMO.

You can't prevent injures suffered at high impact, however you can prevent soft tissue injuries and yes, even ACL's (to an extent).

Meant to say: The Storm have the rails run through to the decider now. Should they win tonight (which looks a formality) they'll sew up top spot.
