I think we need to sign Rapana to play fullback next year.

2 year deal - fullback in 2022
Reduced amount second year to replace Isaako on the wing. He’s been solid when filling in at 1 and is an older (though not particularly wiser) head.

We can’t persevere with any of the current “options” at the club, and his signing would still allow for a big play at fb in 23.

1. Rapana
2. Oates
3. Farnworth
4. Staggs
5. Isaako
6. Gamble
7. Reynolds
8. Carrigan
9. Turpin
10. Haas
11. Robati
12. Capewell
13. Hetherington

14. Levi (unlikely)
15. Flegler
16. Riki / Piakura
17. Bullemor / Kennedy / Xavier

This isn't directed at you in particular, but I find it mildly amusing, that much of BHQ thought Kev was dumb for signing Levi in the first place, now many people want us to offer him a new contract 🤔
I didn't think he was a bad signing when he came in, has rep experience and played well at Newcastle dipped a bit at manly and was tossed, but still at an age where he can improve again.

I could be absolutely slammed for this but without a fullback for next year assuming Niu leaves. With Farnworth being a dogshit winger and Brenko being treated like a marquee signing, does that mean that they might experiment Staggs at fullback. I’m not to sure what to think about it, just wondering other peoples opinion of it?

I'm not sure with Staggs having not the best luck with injuries the extra work load would be best for him.. yes I think he would be dangerous back there but I'd much prefer he be that strike in the centres.

For me, staggs is an explosive player. I think the cardio required at fullback would actually dull his attacking potency.

If we wanted to incorporate him into more attacking plays he could float further in field similar to turbo did for nsw or manu did against parra.

Yeah definitely you dont want a player like Staggs running it out from our own end and having to do that extra work in defence that a fullback should be doing because he will defs be less effective.
But giving him the roaming role and let him float to both sides of the field in attacking positions is what he should be doing.

I think in Tyson Gamble we have a diamond in the rough. He's hardly had any opportunity to build a reputation through injury etc and I, for one, knew next to nothing about him until this season. He has a good kicking game, his defence is good and he has that 'pest' factor that is needed in every team (We love him ... the opposition hate him ... think Josh Reynolds) If he continues on his current trajectory he'll be more than an able partner for Reynolds next season and will overshadow all of the above.
agree on this. with an experienced half inside him i think he is definitely worth investing sone time with. 2 things I like is he hits and sticks...mostly un defence. and un attack if the person outside isn't in a better position he takes it himself..so notvafraid tobe patient and get hit knew nothing about him prior to this year but I like his attitude. Also in there when people make a mistake encouraging them. Looks like someone who is working hard on his game

Most pundits said same about Michell....that seems to be working out ok

1. ?
2. Oates
3. Lee
4. Staggs
5. Farnworth
6. Gamble/Kelly (maybe giving mam a shot towards the end of the year if warranted based on isc form and other performances)
7. Reynolds
8. Carrigan/perhaps another middle
9. Turpin/paix (if we wanted hodgson, I think we could get him a year early)
10. Hass
11. Robati
12. Capewell
13. Hetherington
14. Paix/levi
15. Riki/piakura
16 and 17. A Rotation of middles through the year based on form and rest breaks: flegler, kennedy, bullemore, palasia, willison (and probably others i have forgotten)

That fullback position is tricky. Sometimes nui looks like a good stop gap until cobbo develops or a better option comes along, but others he doesnt and on top of that, he may not be here next year.

You put a real fb there and my god that’s sexual.

Don’t be weird galah

If Gamble is going to be our 6, why is he still playing on the right side? Reynolds will be on the right, so whoever is in front for the 6 should be playing on that left edge to get as many reps in as possible.

Our right edge is the more potent side so maybe they've made the decision to put our more potent half on that side too, no team does meetings about Alex "one set" Glenn.

Kelly @ 6

Replicate Souths spine to an extent. Kelly isn’t a much different player to Cody Walker. Paix at 9 can offer something similar to what Cook does.

Hopefully Cobbo can continue developing in the off and pre season. Not sure where he will fit in yet. Will be exciting if we do punt on him at fullback.. Very unlikely that we will though imo.. Maybe halfway through the season if we run out of ideas..

1. Cobbo
6. Kelly
7. Reynolds
9. Paix

when did you abandon the Hethrington to hooker crusade?

BTW, Gamble has earned first shot to partner Reynolds

Wasn’t a crusade mate. Was an idea in order to fit the best players in the 17.

Gamble has been good, I agree. Nothing will be set in stone this early though.
