Q-Cup lineups

i was just looking over the qcup teams for this weekend and saw that Redcliffe have named Palmer Wapau at 5/8 [icon_lol1. are they serious or can he actually play 5/8?

also i have noticed that PJ Marsh and Dave Taylor haven't been named for Central comets but 2 TBA spots are in their lineup, whats the go with that does anyone know?

They'll be Marsh and Taylor, unless Kenny, Carroll or Stagg fall over and can't play tomorrow.

Wapau played 5/8 last week. Apparently he was pretty good.

Yeah, I guess he'd be Feleti Mateo style. More like a back rower but with enough skills and speed to create something out wide.

Wapau is a prop more than anything else, isn't he. i haven't seen much of him, is he any good?

Matty Bowen has said that he is one of the best players that he has played with. That's gotta say something. From what I've seen of him he looks the goods. Strong ball runner and got some good skills with the ball. Mobile backrower.

When the hell is he going to get a run in first grade? I've been hearing about this bloke for yonks and he still has not seen a game in a Broncs jersey.

He played a few games at 5/8 last year too. He went really well at the weekend. It wasnt your traditional 5/8 game, he played fairly wide, and almost exclusively on the left hand side, but it was the perfect foil Shane Perry.

He has a nice crisp passing game, and he always attracts plenty of defenders, which created space for his outside men. His support play was good too.

His defence was the highlight though, his tackles are always effective, and boy when he he hits them, they stay hit. At one stage the Norths fullback was running sideways trying to get out of the in goal. Palmer lined him up and knocked him 2 meters backwards. One of the biggest hits Ive seen in NRL or QLD Cup this year.

Having said, I dont know if he is quite ready for NRL yet. He had a foot injury in the early rounds and was out for most of the season and lost a fair bit of fitness. He has been back for about 6 or 7 weeks and just getting the fitness back.

His future is definately as wide running backrower, picking his moments, and hitting holes at speed (He runs great lines) He would be wasted as a Prop IMO.

So apparently Wests are talking with the Storm about becoming a feeder club in the Queensland Cup this week.

Anyone know the likelihood of this happening? If storm is gonna cough up the funds or whatever? Would be good..would be verry good.

God, please GOD no. I'd still love the Panthers, I couldn't do anything else. Would LOVE to see them back in the comp.

Does anyone have any info on the QLD cup lineups for next year? I guess that they wont be realeased till then but does anyone know?

It's my understanding that the QRL has already issued the invitations or licenses for 2009, so I don't think this will happen for next year.

On another note (cause you can never get too much Walker news), Ben and Shane Walker will be Assistant Coaches at Ipswich next year.

That maybe the case, from what I'm told it's Bellamy who wants the merger....and don't forget: what Craig Bellamy wants, Craig Bellamy gets.

Well they've already added a 12th team (Sunny Coast) for 2009, so I really can't see them adding a 13th - the byes were a pain this year.
