One Day Squad named.

Floros is captain? Has it really come to that, a guy that struggles to even make the first XI of a weak side?

On the plus side, Swepson may well make national honours if he can back up his last season.

Game 1

A tenacious Cricket Australia XI showed it would not be a pushover in the 2016-17 Matador Cup but the my FootDr Queensland Bulls also demonstrated the type of composure and belief that could see them go far in the limited overs series this summer.
Queensland finished with a three wicket win after scoring 7-278 off 47 overs in response to the CA XI’s score of 5-274.
Bulls debutant Matthw Renshaw and L-plate skipper Jason Floros delivered a three-wicket opening match win to the home side at Allan Border Field, but not before the CA XI sent a message that it meant business in the second year of its existence.
Renshaw, in his first List A game for Queensland, top-scored with 88, while Floros, in his first game as captain, finished off the win in style with 68 not out from 58 balls.
Queensland No.3 Joe Burns, who was returning to action following his and Australia’s disappointing tour of Sri Lanka, contributed a quickfire 42.
The highest run-scorer on the day, however, was another debutant Ryan Gibson who posted a composed 106 in his List A debut to help lift the CA XI to a highly-competitive score.
Gibson, a strong built 22-year-old right-hander, was originally named to make his one-day debut for home State NSW at last year’s tournament before the cancellation of Australia’s tour of Bangladesh saw the Australian players returning to their State teams.
Together with CA XI captain Will Bosisto (86) the pair put on an enterprising 172 for the third wicket.
Experienced Queensland quicks Peter George (3-55) and Luke Feldman (2-43) were excellent with the ball, especially late in the innings.
Still, it was a positive first-up outing for the CA XI who opened their maiden campaign last season with a series of hefty defeats.
The Bulls finished just one win ahead of the CA XI last season but after a sturdy pre-season campaign, will look to make a winning stronghold of their two home games at Allan Border Field before setting off on a Perth-Sydney road-trip for the remainder of the series.

XI Renshaw, Peirson, Burns, Labuschagne, Reardon, Floros (c), Neser, Cutting, Swepson, Feldman, George; 12th Gannon.

Tigers bowling.

That bowling attack is less than intimidating, though it would give the current Aussie bowlers a run for their money.

The myFootDr Queensland Bulls have moved to the top of the Matador BBQs One-Day Cup table after their second victory of the tournament, a thrilling one-run win over Tasmania in Brisbane.
Chasing 178 to win from 27 overs in the rain-reduced match, Tasmania were 3-114 when the weather brought an early end to the match with the Tigers just one run short of their target under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern Method.
With dark clouds hovering and rain appearing imminent, Tasmanian duo Alex Doolan and Jake Doran faced up to Bulls quick Luke Feldman knowing they needed eight runs from the 20th over to be ahead on the DLS Method.
But having managed just three singles from the opening three balls of the over, the rain started to tumble and the players were forced from the field, where both teams learnt that the Bulls were a single run in front.
“It was just one of those heartbreaking losses,” said Tigers coach Dan Marsh.
“(The required score) is hard for the batsman to follow ball-by-ball out there. We were running out messages every over. They knew where we were at.
“They knew they needed eight off that over to be in front, so that’s what we tried to do.
“I thought we played some really good cricket so to be on the losing side is pretty hard to take.”
The tight result comes after the match between Western Australia and South Australia on Sunday ended in a tie.
Michael Neser’s medium-pacers did much to halt Tasmania’s momentum with the allrounder returning figures of 2-29 from six overs.
The Bulls batted first and posted 5-158 from 35.5 overs before rain halted their innings, with Marnus Labuschagne top-scoring with 51 and former Bulls spinner Cameron Boyce, on debut for Tasmania, taking 2-22. Dumped Test batsman Joe Burns made 31 from 55 balls batting at No.3, while opener Matt Renshaw posted 38 before retiring hurt with a right knee injury.

Sheesh that's hard luck for the opposition.

Renshaw out with knee

Funny that is so true that bringing in an Aussie rep is a huge downgrade.

Funny that is so true that bringing in an Aussie rep is a huge downgrade.

They can bring him in from outside the squad and as the replacement rules allow but he will have to leave again when Reshaw is fit.

Seriously though, Qld's bowling attack would do better than the current Australian team's embarrassing attack. How did Worrell get a gig? He looks horrible when he bowls and his stats scream pick someone else. To think of some of the greats that never got a gig or barely got a gig and plodders like Worrell and Tremain are in the attack. Hastings is the go to man for goodness sake.

No Starc, Pattinson, Hazlewood, Cummins, Faukner, even Siddle, Bird, Richardson, Paris, Behrendorff, Tye, Rimmington. Like what were they thinking?
