AUSTRALIA'S most influential broadcaster Ray Hadley has joined Channel Nine and his great friend Ray Warren as an NRL commentator and occasional panellist on the revamped Footy Show.

The 2GB host signed a contract with Nine late last week and will call the second Friday night match, planting him alongside bitter old enemies Paul Vautin - and possibly Peter Sterling - in the commentary box.

Andrew Voss has been demoted to No 3 caller and will only get a start on Sundays when Warren is unavailable for long interstate hauls or for flights to New Zealand.

Cricket commentator Michael Slater (LOLOLOL) has also been approached to be co-host on The Footy Show in the spot recently rejected by Matty Johns.

"I got a feel for it last year when I did some of the rugby World Cup on Channel Nine and really enjoyed it," he said. "My only problem is Rabs. We played golf on Friday and he kept calling me his understudy."

Of his demanding workload, Hadley said: "I'll leave 2GB at lunchtime on Friday and fly to wherever I need to be. I'll be on a 6am flight the next morning to do the Continuous Call show with the boys on GB and then take Sundays off."

Ray Hadley is a good caller in my opinion as I listnen to him on 2gb when im in Sydney. Also thank god that idiot Fatty Vautin isn't a main caller anymore. Clearly was in love with QLD and Manly and never made any attempts to hide it.

I think you'll find that Rabs will get most of the Broncos Friday night games, not Vossy. Vossy always got the Broncos games.

You have a point but those guys are not bias at all when you compare them to the guys who call the English tests and Warroirs matches. Gee those pommies literally go hysterical if England score or win and the guys who call the Warroirs matches on Fox sports they just cheer the Warriors all game and never make comments about the opposing team. Sterlo yes is bias to Parra and NSW but i've heard him praise QLD continiously over the last few years same with Rabs and Gus. After game 2 the one you lot cat whined about numerous times throughot the game when I watched it on replay, I heard the channel 9 team refer to QLD as a champion team.

Those guys aren't that bad when you compare them to Eddie and Mike sky sports in England and the Warroirs callers on Fox Sports. Both of those teams show blatent bias to England and the Warriors respectivley and they never make comments about whoever their playing. During Origin 2 when I watched it on replay (I was at the game). Numerous times I heard the channel 9 crew beside from Joey refer to QLD as a champion team.

I don't mind Fatty's commentary - he's good value IMO. Doesn't try and overthink things, or waffle on about stupid crap, just tells it like it is.

Always brings some light relief during the match as well.

But wouldn't you agree mate that calling on the radio and calling on the TV are two fairly different beasts, specifically for the primary commentator?

There was a lot of complaining about Hadley's performance during the Union WC. I had a listen to see what the fuss was about and to be honest, the whinging was more than justified.

Sounded like he was calling the Broadmeadow trots.

Well, MG is gone from ch. 9, so a big part of the Roast's appeal is gone. I wish they had lost TK instead...
