It has been over half a season already. How would you rate them out of 10?

Daniel Vidot - 10/10. One of our best buys in a long time. Came cheap and has been one of our best players on the wing. Imagine how good he'd be with a proper half on that side.

Todd Lowrie - 6/10. I expected him to just be average...and he's been a tiny bit better than that. Still wouldn't have him at full strength.

Ben Barba - 3/10. Other than a few glimpses of his older brilliance that you can probably count on one hand, he's been ordinary. You can probably blame Griffin for making him play away from his strengths.

Martin Kennedy - 1/10. I was one of the few who didn't expect much out of him when he joined...but I still expected a FG standard player. One of our worst signings ever thus far.

Well, hopefully this thread acts as a reverse mocker because boy we need these players to lift.

Too early to judge fairly. Vidot has been good but a tad one dimensional, Lowrie is depth, the rest need to lift.

Daniel Vidot - 8/10. His metres are invaluable but that is pretty much all he's really good for at the moment. he regularly gets outran by much faster wingers which is a serious concern

Todd Lowrie - 3/10. Why the **** did we sign this guy? WHAT DOES HE OFFER? He plugs a hole in our 17. That is pretty much it.

Ben Barba - 5/10. His effect on the team is underrated from a playmaking sense but yes, he hasn't been all we hoped him to be, clearly.

Martin Kennedy - 0/10. Our worst signing in many years. After we inevitably cut him loose, and we will, he will never be seen in the NRL again.

It's round 16. Unless they're a creative player, or developing in a play-making position, I think there's been enough football played for an assessment.

Vidot has been the best but he does struggle for involvement. The rest have been poor to average.

Vidot is one of the buys of the year I had some doubts about him but he has been one of our best players adding plenty of strength and drive to the backs.

Didn't expect to much from Lowrie but he has been okay I guess

Barba has been extremely disappointing and hasn't looked up to first grade standard at times but he is capable of improving and has shown some recently. He can easily get better if he is used properly.

Kennedy is just a big fat lump why everybody was so thrilled about him coming is just a mystery to me completely I've never rated that bloke very much, he was a passenger for the Roosters last year. Terrible signing.

I've seen plenty of players turn their season around heading into the end of the season to know better.

Vidot - 8/10 ~ Great buy, his metres in our end are brilliant, still needs to work on his high ball skills and some defensive lapses.

Barba - 6/10 ~ Great buy, playing overweight and in a hybrid Five-Eighth role with a completely useless counter-part, will be much better next year, I'll put my house on it.

Lowrie - 4/10 ~ Depth, wouldn't be in my top 17 at full strength, but good depth, certainly not an all-star.

Kennedy - TBA/10 ~ Can't rate him yet, will wait until seasons end before I completely write him off as the worst buy in Broncos history, still has the size to make an impact, just needs the mentality and fitness.

Vidot has been excellent. He's not without his flaws still but his carries alone are simply priceless. Add to the fact he's probably not being paid much and I think he's easily our best buy of the season and up there among those of any NRL club. All factors considered I give him 8/10 for performance and 10/10 value.

Barba is not a great buy but he's still a shrewd investment. So far he's not delivered a return but he came relatively cheaply. On last night's effort it was not so much his willingness to be involved that was the problem but he just isn't as effective as he was. Why exactly that is I don't know, but hopefully he turns it around soon. All factors considered I give him 4/10 for performance and 9/10 for value.

Lowrie does a generic sort of job that generic sort of forwards can do. He's done nothing of particular note but my understanding is he's on peanuts? I nothing him. All factors considered I give him 5/10 for performance and 5/10 for value.

Kennedy is supposedly on fairly decent coin and doing **** all to justify it. Though it's curious Griffin hasn't given him a chance to redeem himself over the Origin period. All factors considered I give him 0/10 for performance and -10/10 for value.

IDaniel Vidot - 10/10. One of our best buys in a long time. Came cheap and has been one of our best players on the wing. Imagine how good he'd be with a proper half on that side.

I'm actually going to come out and say that he wouldn't be any better with a different half. He might score more but it wouldn't really make Vidot more valuable as IMO he has little attacking flair. He can finish okay but he's not the type to score in situations where he has no right to - he's not a player like Uate who if you give him more half chances will turn some into points.

Pete is right, Vidot is very one dimensional. But he excels at that dimension and you can never question his willingness coming out of defence. His effort is very good but for mine he doesn't have the attacking abilities to become much better of a player. Better sharpness under the high ball is about all I can see him improving on. Which I'm actually perfectly fine with, not everyone can be the best in their position. Vidot's effort is always 110% and I'm very happy with him at his current level. Sure there are better options out there in an ideal world but for mine he's super value simply by being who he has been this season.

I dunno, I remember when Vidot first started, he looked like he'd end up one of the classier wingers in attack. I don't think he would have lost all that potential.

Again, not disagreeing per se or just for the sake of it but comments like these really puzzle me. All Kennedy needs to do is run hard and tackle hard. Pretty simple stuff. Why does he need time to work that out? It sounds like wishful thinking to me.

As you said in the opening of this thread Pete, we need him to lift. If he doesn't get a recall in the next few weeks, it doesn't give him much of an opportunity to make an impact... an even if he does come good it will only be for a handful of games, hardly enough to justify a pass mark.

I like Kennedy and potentially he's awesome but the clock is starting to work against him, for this season at least.

Not really thinking about Kennedy although the timing of this thread does seem like another way to bag out a player even though they weren't even involved last night.

Thinking more about Ben who outside of the dropped bomb last night, has been turning things around.

I made this thread thinking more about Barba and Vidot.

I kinda forgot about Kennedy for a while. Probably cause I could always see he was mediocre (at least after getting injured a few years back).

Fair go, you've taken every opportunity and more to bag him out and he copped the most criticism of anyone in the post.

Which hey is fair, he's been useless thus far but I'm just going to put this out there that I'm not going to comment until the season is over because I know right now I'm still too pissed off about the game last night to post about it rationally.

It's not the first time Barba has faltered under the high ball and as for him turning things around?

....yeah, that's a bit of a stretch.

I think Brisbane fans were hoping for so much more from Barba. Alec's 3/10 rating is pretty spot on IMO.

Kennedy....well, he's simply not there.

Lowrie was always just a depth signing and for what he is, he's going OK.

Vidot is the surprise packet. I don't think he's got the most skill and ability but he is using what he does have, size and speed, to it's greatest potential.
