The Dolphins discussion

Exactly. So it’s meaningless?

Unless, by it being there, it effectively makes them "under contract" (even conditionally) so it enforces the hands-off rule for an extra year?

a club option would do that.

a mutual option wouldn't really, as the player doesn't have to take it up, so he would be entitled to check out his options for that year

It's basically to save paperwork. We'll add another 2-3 years MO, if we're both happy with the deal we just continue and sign one line, if not we had to negotiate again anyway.

You know full well its the Phins.

according to the Courier Mail:
  • Bennett will be officially announced as head coach on Thursday
  • Bennett will step into a fulltime role immediately until the end of the 2024 season
  • Bid leader Terry Reader, will be their CEO
  • Aside from recruiting, Bennett will be involved with putting together a football department that can provide a foundation for the team to be competitive from day one.

I actually thought all of this had already been announced, there you go.

That means Benny is only coaching them for 2 yrs at least initially.
Thought he would have been signed for a bit longer.

I think there is a fair chance Redcliffe are the richest club in the comp now. They have more assets and a bigger turnover than Brisbane iirc. Could be wrong, but they aren't struggling for cash regardless.
Outside of Penrith obviously, but funds made outside of the Actual Football is harder to justify pouring in as they are essentially two different departments, I mean most of the Sydney clubs have their clubs funding the Footy and it's all pretty dire, especially with Tigers and Dragons.

Penrith Keeps it completely separate although I think they are funding some of the new stadium(they fully own the current one).

Not gonna lie, it’s been pretty great watching Storm, Bunnies, and Titans fans panicking in comment sections every time Tino, Munster, Grant, and Walker are linked to the Phins. Watching Tino get poached would be especially rewarding.

Doubt it, raiders, knights, dogs, eels, Penrith, all have big revenue streams outside of the nrl too. Redcliffe also don’t have the NRL expenses yet… The Broncos revenues are $55m and are entirely football club related, phins will do well to have $30m in football revenues the first few years. Judging by the Supercars bid & the talk of fielding other investment discussions, I think the broncos may be looking to diversify their revenue streams over the next few years as well.

Are penrith building a new stadium?
Where and what will be it's capacity?

Look at what the Dolphins are raking in purely as an ISC club. They have more assests and a bigger turnover than the Broncos ( Broncos assets are valued at about $60 million, Dolphins are about $100 million ) as it stands, their leagues club alone turns over about $35 million a year. They own commercial buildings, leisure complex, a shopping center plus they apparently have at least $20 million cash in the bank, they are minted. I think you will see them go from strength to strength now they are an NRL club.

Just wait and see what they do as an NRL club. Dont forget Dolphins own their stadium as well and they are in an immensley strong position financially for a club in the ISC. They havent had the benefits of the exposure being an NRL club yet. I cant see them doing anything but becoming financially stronger tbh.

Perfect.

By the end of 2024, there will be no debate as to whether or not Bennett can set a club up for success or failure.

The plan is to knockdown what they have and increase it to 25-30k depending on what gets approved, they wouldn't have it in any other location anyway it's right next to the leagues club which is bloody massive the size of a casino and then some.

Im surprised it's taken that long tbh, not like they are strapped for cash but the stadium at current is very old school with big chunks of paddock on the ends of both sides.

That saying a report in 2019 said Penriths revenue was in the $140 Million range with the same amount in assets(Given how they constantly keep expanding the club and making new ones It's only growing) but the football department is losing atleast $5 Million a season, not that it matters to them anyway, but starting a new NRL team will have it's issues but I think the Dolphins are in a better position then any new club has been to handle it.

The crowds and membership numbers in the first season will be interesting.
