Stuart has no idea..
These kids stay in Brisbane playing footy until their 17-18-19 years old and then come to Canberra.

And he's had nothing to do with any of the development in Canberra.

With Stuart, it's always everyone else's fault. It's not because he sucks at coaching (and everything surrounding that role). It's because everyone is out to get him, and the team that he's coaching. Whether it's the refs picking on his no-name, non-influential players. Or the other clubs who steal his talent. It's just not fair, how come every other club & coach has it so easy while everything's just so hard for poor Ricky?

I was feeling very sorry for the Parra players last season. They actually have some really talented juniors coming through that Stuart picked way too early and butchered their confidence.
Then when they lose, every press conference Stuart would just say how shit their playing roster is.

Yeah I agree, it was the worst possible thing to say. And people wonder why team confidence & performances get eroded over the years in every team that he coaches. Imagine someone like Cheyse Blair under a coach that believes in him & instills confidence. Well, I guess we'll see that in 2014.

Yet people on here are saying that griffin is a **** for NOT throwing the players under the bus

The scary thing for Raiders fans is that they have some very promising juniors, and some under performing senior players.

And Stuarts aptitude for throwing young players in way too early could really hurt these players and their development.

That's it. I'm starting a Ricky Stuart thread.

Had to make this thread. Is there anyone on here who actually rates him?

He took the Roosters to 4 consecutive Grand Finals in the early 00's (and one premiership). Yes, the team contained the likes of Fitler, Wing and Minichello at the peak of their powers.

He turned the Sharks into a competitive force from also-rounds in 2006 to equal minor premiers in 2008. There squad is/was pure shit.

He turned around a NSW squad into a competitive force that even the great Craig Bellamy couldn't do.

He probably made Paul Gallen the player he is.

All entirely subjective comments. Personally, I think he's not in the same league as Bellamy, Hasler or even Neil Henry as a strategist but he's probably a good Mal Meninga type coach.

The Eels are fucked because their board is full of in fighting ex football players with shit for brains. Ricky inherited a turd sandwich there, tried to make some positive changes for 2014, then said **** this I want out.

He coached Hungary the other night in their friendly against Greece.

Lost 90 - 0.

<rolls up sleeves to begin enthusiastically working on a counter-argument>

I don't rate Ricky as a coach that highly but I don't think he is as bad as what some seem to say.

Roosters - Yes he did inherit a top quality roster and set-up but even when you've got a great side it still takes a lot of coaching input and work to get the results as countless things need to work during the season. He won the 2002 Premiership breaking a 27 year drought and made the 2003 and 2004 grand-finals and won the 2004 minor premiership which was the first in 23 years. He made Anthony Minichiello into a fullback and players like Brett Finch, Shannon Hegarty, Chris Flannery, Justin Hodges, Michael Crocker and others played their first rep matches under his guidance so he did some good for the club. Once Fittler retired it left a void that couldn't be filled followed by the retirement of Ricketson and Anthony Minichiello's injury made the void bigger.

Sharks - Inherited a rag-tag roster and after an average 2007 made it into a competitive side that was one of the form teams of 2008. Paul Gallen and Greg Bird became became fully fledged rep players under him. The Sharks were a rabble on and off the field in 2009 but considering all the stuff happening of the field that year (Greg Bird's court case, racist taunt by Gallen, assault charges against board members, Reni Maitau's drug ban, financial strife, Matty Johns sex story and in-board fighting) you can't really blame all of the crap at the Sharks on him.

Eels - Yeah he had a shit year and said some things that shouldn't have been said but honestly apart from that run in 2009 the Eels have been sub-par for quite a while and have possibly the worst side i've ever seen in my years of watching Rugby League and i've been watching for 14 years. Wayne Bennett could coach Parramatta and they still would struggle pretty badly.

Ricky is a coach that can do some good at clubs (Roosters and Sharks) but the bad seems to always outweigh the good and he leaves clubs in a messy state with a messy exit.

Ricky Stuart is a decent coach and he does have something to offer. like a lot of coaches/players, the question shouldn't really be 'is he shit or not' but 'is he as good as he is made out to be'.

Stuart isn't bad but he is overrated. a coach of his calibre shouldn't have people lining up to pay him obscene amounts of money.

He coached Hungary the other night in their friendly against Greece.

Lost 90 - 0.

Then blew up how Greece were stealing all Hungary's players and started offering every Hungary player $1 million dollars per game to show Greece how player development is done.

Whether Stuart left the Eels for family reasons or not, Peter Sterling summed it up when he said that 2013 was a wasted year for Parramatta. Stuart came in, effectively sacked 12 players and then left.

It's like the captain of the Titanic fell asleep at the helm, Stuart came in and steered it into the iceberg and released all the lifeboats, saving himself and letting everyone else drown.
