Make no mistake, this is not a guaranteed win. The Eels are our bogey team, especially at Suncorp.

I can see those changes sparking the Eels. Mitchell Moses is auditioning for Origin so I'm expecting him to be better this game.

Su'A really needs to be switched on defensively because Ma'u has been in terrific form this year. He has been a monster on that left edge for the Eels and I don't expect that to change. The Eels left edge is the big concern for me.

French on Isaako is frightening. Isaako needs to stay on his wing because if he doesn't, it's try time for French.

To be honest if I had to work with the players named, I’d rather see Boyd go to left centre, kahu to right wing and Isaako to full back. Alternatively leave Isaako onnwing and throw kahu in fullback.

Can we have an orthopaedic surgeon, a maxillofacial surgeon and a neurologist on the sideline if Kahu is playing centre? How many times does this guy need to get injured before people realise how bad an idea it is...

For me McGuire if plays should start on the bench and play prop where we are light. He’s been off a few weeks so ease him in.

1. Corey Norman

Or maybe he just rates Kahu as a centre.

he isn't the only one ...

He is definitely a quality attacking center ...

and his previous defensive issues can IMO be attributed to pretty much being a backline utility and moving all over the backline in recent seasons (playing fullback, wing, center AND both left and right sides). playing center in defence can be tricky. it requires a good understanding with your winger and the decision making and timing takes a bit to get down.

IMO, if he can get some consistency in the center position, then he will become a great center for us

interesting to see staggs move ahead of opacic.

also hope fai kills it, hasnt had much of a chance in recent seasons (remember one time he was on the bench for all 80mins) so would be good to see him in action.

Probably because opacic was knocked out cold last week?

All I know is, Kahu has been a defensive weakness every time he has played centre.
If you are going to play centre, I guess against the eels is better than the roosters, the storm or the cowboys. He has some smart hands (he is actually someone i could see playing 5/8 some day) and when fully fit is athletic enough to do the defensive work, but it's a risk coming back from injury.
Having cover in staggs makes it worth the gamble I suppose, and if he handles the defensive side of things, he could turn into real match winner in the mould of Jamie lyon, playing as almost a 3rd half (4th with Boyd doing what he does I suppose). I'm just not confident from past experience.
