Round 12 - Broncos vs Manly - Pre-Match Discussion

we'll have to see how they origin players come out of Wednesdays game ... one player i certainly wouldn't risk is Hodges

Going to be a tough game but a good challenge for the boys. Love them or hate them, Manly are a great team and will pose a big threat on a rare Sunday afternoon game at Suncorp.

Just a question of who will back up. Fair to say, Hodges would be pretty doubtful but I can see the others backing up and lending their services.

Let's say Hook reverts back to his 2011 policy, I'd like to see this team...

1. Ben Barba
2. Daniel Vidot
3. Josh Hoffman
4. Dale Copley
5. Lachlan Maranta
6. Jordan Kahu
7. Ben Hunt
8. Josh McGuire
9. Andrew McCullough
10. Ben Hannant
11. Alex Glenn (c)
12. Corey Oates
13. Todd Lowrie

14. Jake Granville
15. Francis Molo
16. Jarrod Wallace
17. Jai Arrow

Won't happen unfortunately.

I know Broncos have had a history of lifting against stronger teams, but I can't see us winning this one. Especially given the way we have been playing the past month.

I'm pretty sure Manly will still be without Foran, but I think they will be too strong. Our forward pack is just too soft and we will need them to be fired up to win this game.

Hodges will likely be out. Big test for Copley as Manly's left edge is the most potent in the game and Stewart/Matai/Taufua are killing it down that side.

Other forwards will likely play. Which means Oates will likely spend the best part of 50mins sitting on the bench.

Think Lyon is due back too. Which will be a test for Vidot as he came in on Takarangi last week, allowing Don to score. If he does that next week then he'll be punished, so hopefully that's on the tip sheet or something.

Manly by 10+, Hoffman to infuriate.

i dont expect us to win this one tbh. but even if we lose if we some how manage to put in a much improved match then the last 2 games we have dished up ill still be happy. if we can stay competitive and in a winnable position by the last 10 minutes i think ill consider it a good match

I love your avatar.

well the fact is hoffman will be 6.

doubt hodges plays, which is fine because maranta has stepped in admirably this year.

i think they'll exploit vidots side in attack. we have no pace on that side of the field and manly love going wide early in sets.

really hope we can put in a good performance.

Granville to be named at 17 then dropped. I wonder if Thaiday is a chance?

This will be an extremely tough game no matter what team Manly fields

Our only chance is if Foran is still out and DCE gets rested.

only chance of dce being rested is if foran and lyon are back. they said the only reason he played the last couple of weeks is because those guys were out.

Mate, I love watching Vidot. Honestly, I do.

Vidot is, as many say on here, the "buy of the season". He carries entire teams on his back! Vidot has made the most metres of any player in the team - more than 400 than our next best Parker, and more than 500m more than the best in the Manly side.

No need to worry about Vidot at all.

Taufua btw has made less than half the metres than Vidot has. Pffft!

Tries? Which is what wingers are all about? Taufua 7. Vidot 2. Copley 7. Oh.

Anyway, sarcasm aside, Vidot is, like a number of players in our great team, a victim of playing on the left hand side.

Yet another casualty of poor coaching and no quality ball.

I can only imagine what his scoring stats would be like if he played on Manly's right hand side ... or even ours for that matter.

As for the game itself, I will say what I always say. We can beat any team. It just depends on who turns up on the day.

Broncos by 10. Hook to infuriate.

Exactly. If the ball came his way a bit more, he would be amazing IMO.
