POST GAME Round 18 - Bulldogs vs Broncos

Should have been ahead by 14, but I'm glad that call didn't come back to hurt us.

An ugly win, but it's good we did. Once again, we win a game on defense and coming up with the big plays when it's needed.

I'm proud of these boys.

Incredible defensive effort. At least we know where we stand when it comes to no McGuire.

3. Thaiday
2. Kahu
1. Hunt

3. Corey Parker
2. Adam Blair
1. Sam Thaiday

Parcell. You can just see what's going to happen. Some crap club who can't even spell development will offer him a squillion to start a la Granville and who could blame him to take it?

Just a great game by our middle third, including the two benchies. Trying to make up for the lack of McGuire, no doubt.

Honorable mention to Maranta too, was great.

Was very happy with our forwards' performance without McGuire. Blair and Thaiday, and of course Parker, really stood up and covered the workload. Very good signs.

Defence won that. Fantastic. An important win.

At the same time, I thought the Dogs were bloody woeful even though our excellent defence forced a lot of that.

As well, I also didn't think our attack was coordinated at all. Our edges looked to me compressed too often. Hunt and Milford looked stuck for options too many times. Reed to me looked half asleep half the time. Boyd looked tired and Maranta was excellent.

Maybe it was the weather, maybe it's cos I had a bad day.

Blair and Dodds need to play like that for the rest of the season.

One of those take it and run wins, back to back home games against bottom four teams bodes well.

I would love to see us rest the entire starting squad this week before we hit that insane run at the end of the season.

Bulldogs score a forward pass try, and we were denied a backwards pass try. So the real score is probably 20-4. Great performance considering all the expert tips were for the dogs.

I have a minor issue with Milford.. it's not a major thing, just something that bugged me with Barba last year and have noticed that Milford does it as well.

He never plays the ball fast, it virtually looks like he's been injured in every tackle, he's always slow to get up, and he's hands on knees for a play or two after he's tackled, which is exactly what Barba did last year.. I'm not sure if it's a fitness thing or if he's genuinely battling some niggling injuries, but it bothers me.

Did you just suggest the Broncos developed Parcell?

Thought our attack was a bit rusty after the bye and in the wet weather. I think this was just a game we needed to tough out without doing anything special like we did.

Might live to regret saying this in a few weeks but this team just refuses to take a night off ... just oozing confidence on both sides of the ball ... great stuff
