POST GAME Round 19 - Broncos vs Panthers

I had a gut feeling Knik would fire up tonight. His defence needs special praise especially on that machine Kikau. Take a bow wee man. Hope you can replicate that form for the rest of the year. Milf has obviously been putting some work in on the 40 /20s. I'm glad his second effort came off.

I'm not getting carried away with that effort. The defence in the 2nd half, when the Panthers threw the ball around and ran it hard at angles and with support - our defence was utter garbage and against a class side we will get smacked if we defend like that rubbish

Yes, a win's a win but the Panthers were crap for 60 mins

I disagree the panthers were crap for 60, we didn’t give them a chance. It wasn’t like they were dropping the ball everywhere and not completing, we just dominated them.

At the end of the day we only let in 3 tries at the point of the game where the panthers were basically out of it and were throwing the ball around because they had nothing to lose, even the absolute best defensive teams concede tries then. For such a young team I was impressed by the Broncos the way they dug in and got the momentum back even though they were stuffed.

Credit where it is due.

He was damn unlucky the 1st one didn't come off. That second bounce was an absolute ****.

Pleased Macca went well. He was a bee's dick off of making a line break tonight. But his passes off the deck were much improved tonight and a few of his cover tackles were telling.

The game stats are bizarre. Penrith had more possession, territory, line breaks and metres gained and were absolutely clobbered. Not sure if I have seen that before.

Benny in the presser 'I'm in the risk business'. What a crack up.

Fair enough, it's true there was some complacency and it's why we have our for and against the way it is. That said, our 1st half was very good.
We needed to rebuild the pressure in the 2nd half but the half time rest gave them the chance to regroup. They came out hurting, with a point to prove and we clocked off a little. We did eventually recover though, so I wouldn't worry too much except that we go into the next game thinking chip kicks in our own half and soft defence from opponents on their own line are on.
If we show the same application with the right strategy, maintain field position and be prepared to wear opponents down with repeat sets (assuming they don't have a defender like maloney ) we'll go far.

The boys did fall away a bit but managed to bring it back. Milf is looking more the organiser and Knick played a grear support role and had his best game this year. Losge is huge for us, so glad he is signed for 2 more. TPJ is a beast, hope they can get him fit and keep him there, as he is vital in thos side.

Our ruck speed is hurting us. We are slow to play the ball and too quick to get off or not good enough at rolling players over.
When we finally do hold down a bit it looks really slow and we concede a penalty.

Penrith went to sleep on us all night but because they do it all the time it looks normal. It's been a problem since 2015.

All in all, what a masterstroke in Wayne switching the lineup coincidentally (?) in his possible 500th win & to equally respond by the players with such a performance is truly amazing.

Congratulations to entire team. Well done guys.

Most pleasing for mine - Lodge scoring his FIRST TRY that took the score to 50 for Wayne's 500th win. So cherishing! Been waiting for this guy to barge his way over the try line and finally happened.

I hope the boys are more polished next week and hopefully start playing 80 full minutes rather than gassing up. We got the big win now but KEEP IT COMING!!!

Any injuries out of this? Isaako looked ginger with that leg all night and TPJ was unsighted after 30 minutes

After the Warriors game, I said that I would be in fools paradise if we win against Panthers by 13+ I take my word back. I am not in fools paradise but, in reality. The reality that Mighty Broncos could win the whole damm thing if they dug deep. Keep it coming!!!

What an irony has been for the last 3 weeks? Panthers flogged Warriors. Next week Warriors served us & a week later we served back Panthers in the most destructive way possible (would've been better if we had contained them in 2nd half).

I notice something similar to 2015 (this time around, winning the premiership though) brewing at the right time.
