POST GAME Round 19 - Broncos vs Panthers

No team in history has conceded 50 points in a game during the regular season and then gone on to win the premiership, apparently. That's what the reference was concerning.

Stats like this mean nothing in my opinion. I don’t know why people love to talk about them. Knights won in 2001 after letting in 49 in a regular season match. Does this mean that if Kahu had missed one of his kicks at goal, Panthers would still be contenders? But because we reached 50, somehow they’re all done? Or what if the Panthers do manage to win this year? Turns out that 51 was the magic number all along I guess.

I understand that teams that win premierships do so on the back of good defence, and having someone run up a cricket score on you is a bad prognostic sign. But any team can have a bad day, and run into a team having a great day. How many times have we seen that with Origin fatigue affecting a host of Brisbane players? That’s more or less what happened last night, and to their credit the Panthers made a good fist of it in the second half. They’re still as good a chance as anyone in the bottom half of the 8.

Yeah mate, it's just a weird stat that will eventually get proven wrong at some point. I don't think anyone truly believes that the Panthers season is now officially over. It's all just a bit of banter.

The new crackdown must of only lasted for 40 mins. Felt like we hardly received a penalty in the second half despite the Panthers still lying all fucking over us. Bunch of dirty fuckers too.

Anyway, happy to see us enjoy our footy again and play with a smile on our faces. Really impressed with Jimmy looking very passionate revving the boys up at certain times last night. As someone else said (not sure who) but he looks a different player after playing Origin. He looked liked a leader last night. Haven't seen that from him before.

In terms of our little fade out in the second half, it was always going to happen from such a young side. I thought we played at a high level of intensity in the first half so was going to be hard to maintain that for the whole 80. I know playing for the whole 80 is what every team strives for but not many stay perfectly focussed for that long, especially when a side is throwing a lot at you and is desperate.

Anyway, loved the effort last night and still on board the Brisbane rollercoaster. Something special is building. Might not see it this year but if the planets align, good times are ahead.

We really need to apply the wrestle in the tackle.

Teams get such a roll on when they attack us through the middle.

Love the smell of victory in the morning especially when we put 50 on a team!

Maloney seems to have a shocker when he verses us at home, remember last year, he got penalized so much, and didn't have a good game, good to see haha.

What a strange side we are. Going into this game I gave the edge to the Panthers on the fact that I was totally convinced that the NSW halves would dominate our halves....low an behold the complete opposite.

Also...the smile that comes to my face when I don't see Boyd out the back....priceless.

The Maloney highway, or the M6, connects Brisbane to the Penrith try line

Dunno why Maloney is copping it. He's excellent, he was easily our best on field last night.
Haha, he had a bludger of a game didn't he. I don't buy into this shit he's a cheeky little bugger who is a good bloke. He's a fucking **** on the field and a massive grub. Love seeing him struggle last night. He could of been penalised another 5 or 6 times I reckon. **** him.

According to Darius he's happy to play anywhere for the team and his comments make me feel certain we'll see a lot more of Isaako at fullback.
I really liked what I seen of him in the centres as well.

That was hardly his fault, we were shot from the ruck and he was basically covering two players.

I think Kahu could have and should have made that tackle, it was a lazy attempt.

I’m not sure if this completely came through on the broadcast but from being at the game the Panthers are amongst the grubbiest team in the comp. I’m not sure if this is their usual standard but last night they were disgusting. Utter fuckwits.
