Warriors are one of the hardest teams to gauge. They could tear teams apart if they get on a roll, or they can shit in it completely. The most inconsistent team in the comp. Should be a fun game, more fun than the Eels one.

We'll have to be better for this one. Eden on Manu worries me. It will be a fast game that's for damn sure

Hope their spine don't click for this game they can run riot from round 3.

With Kahu out for 4 weeks and Reed potentially needing another couple of weeks to recover, I'd be tempted to go with this team for next weeks game, it'd be more of a defensive move, but against the Warriors that's what we're going to need.

1. Boyd
2. Oates
3. Glenn
4. Roberts
5. Eden
6. Milford
7. Hunt
8. McGuire
9. McCullough
10. Blair
11. Thaiday
12. Gillett
13. Parker (c)

14. Nikorima
15. Wallace
16. Ofahengaue
17. Ese'ese

Having Glenn & Thaiday on the left side of the field to help Milford defensively would be huge for us, ideally Milford wouldn't have to make more than 4 or 5 tackles in the game, can focus purely on attack.

We will know more after we see their first game but I expect they will start the season well and get better as the season rolls on. I think they will play with a real structure rather than hit and miss. I know most will disagree with me but with the addition of Robson in the organisational side of things I expect them to become a much more fluent side. He is a great defender too so I'll not be surprised to see them become a real force this year.

The Warriors had a rude awakening in the preseason Versus the Dragons. What you can extrapolate from that is the Warriors haven't evolved yet.
They always struggle against the Dragons template (Any club wanting to defeat the Warriors should study how Manly and the Dragons play them).
Both of those sides use the same method. They do a Warriors on the Warriors. The Dragons have a twenty + victories vs four Warrior victories for a reason.

The way to stump the Warriors is to play a second phase game...their lazy markers and inability to think past the first tackle sees an offloading game tear them to shreds.

The other way to target them is the way the Dragons and Manly keep the Warriors back pedaling through dummy half running. Both those clubs run their outside backs out of Dummy half at high speed...(this is a Warrior tactic too) and it again catches lazy markers out.

The Warriors when faced with their own template...get frustrated and start making some ridiculous low percentage plays.

The only other Anti Warrior specific ploy in the NRL was invented by the Bronco's.

Target Manu Vatuvei with a team of Gang tacklers.....drive him backwards or towards the side line....Manu will make a high risk offload or lose the ball in the tackle in that scenario more often than not (we saw that tactic employed against Radradra with great effect last night).

The Warriors bank on a roll on through Manu's kick returns, Brisbane are the club (pre Wayne Bennett MkII) that found a way to exploit this known Warrior play book fact, and they were smart enough to ignore conventional wisdom and deliberately Kick to Manu (Kicking away from him is a waste of time, since you will face him tackle one or two regardless).

All that said....I love my team and expect a War.

The Warriors lift for the Broncos and the Melbourne Storm, that's no longer anecdote and legend, that's become NRL fact.

You should expect the best the emergent new look Warriors can throw at the comp come game time.

SJ will try to lift....his ankle will only let him do so much....this isn't nines footy.

If the Warriors can include RTS and Luke in the pre game infectious hype that goes with preparing to face the mighty Broncos club then the NZ side have a shot.

If not....the Bronco's will destroy the Warriors in a cake walk.

I'm sending this straight to Wayne.

wouldnt be suprised to see Reed at all.. like it or not : D

good call MtS.. war it is then. always worry the boys will come.out battered and bruised after the Warriors

Daniel ,hi again. Hoping that you enjoyed last nights season opening blockbuster! Thankyou for letting us know about Reedy, will be great to see him back in the team. I think we really missed hes defensive power last nite . By the way, if you didnt already know, Freakie from BHQ has coordinated a tipping competition exclusively for BHQ subscribers ,it would be great to have you join up too. Would love to have another Murri brother join me in showing what we can do an hopefully finish first. An second at end of season! If you keen please see Freakie about it or read the relevant posting.

Reed would be a big upgrade over Glenn, so hopefully he is good to go.

We contained RTS well in the grand final qualifier, but he terrorised us just a few weeks prior at the back end of the regular season. Hunts kicking game will have to improve ten fold on last nights effort. He should be better for the run given his suspension in the pre season.

I thought you were oriental FiH, get your story straight!

I thought FiH was a woman. Not another murri brother?

Also, I thought Daniel dowel (aka o'dowd) was only good for indigenous Intel. Maybe he's confused jack reed with his indigenous doppelganger Ben Jones on the training paddock?

Didn't Bennett just say that Reed won't play this weekend?

Probably pulling him out to play for us next week.

To the game at hand, barring reed recovering I'd like to see the Glenn to centre, ese'ese to bench reshuffle. Could help counter a physically intimidating warriors team.

I'm just concerned about Glenn's lateral defence in the centres, especially if RTS injects himself and links with Kata (unless he numbers up against ayshford, happy days). Could Gillette be more adept to filling the centre void if we're going down the stop-gap route?

Would be deflating for opacic, who was so close to a call up and to miss out on a call up to his preferred position. I guess Wayne deems it safer to debut a fresh face through the wing?
