POST GAME Round 22 - Dragons vs Broncos

I didn't like the way the boys almost bottled it, but it felt like I was watching the Broncos again which is the big plus for me.

I thought they played with good shape, ran with purpose and the defence was a lot stronger. There were times where the Broncos really suffocated the Dragons and gave them nothing to work with that I liked.

Still plenty of improvement. I'm not going to drone on, I'm sure others on here will take care of that. I'll take the positives and hope the boys can build on them next week.

Those last few moments from Boyd and Opacic...I haven't felt that proud in a long long time.

Against a horrible team even worse than us. If we were playing any top 8 team tonight, we'd have been pasted.

It was in the slop - would have been a struggle against any team. We did well.

Darius did well. He or Gillett deserved MOTM.

Were you expecting flashy brilliance in wet conditions on a shit stadium turf and coming off 3 months of bad form?

It was always going to be an ugly game and an ugly win.

I certainly wasn't expecting a flashy game, but there was no improvement in us. If we played the Roosters again tonight we would have lost again.

Two big plays. From Boyd and Oppa. Opacic's tackle to knock the ball free seems to have gone under the radar a bit.

Congratulations to St George for playing a near perfect game.

When did this happen? I missed that.

Ok i don't know if it was on TV but Corey's family somehow spoke to the media about how unhappy they were with Wayne. Apparently Wayne doesn't praise Corey enough and family are fuming.

Geez, that's harsh. That first half wasn't bad.

No pleasing some people. Seems like they are more happy when we lose.. Are you really supporting the Broncos or trolling for bites...

Happy with the renewed attitude but disappointed with Milf and Hunt to a lesser extent. A lot of Hunts work was great but I am perplexed as to why the kick into the I goal wasn't pursued more often. Both our halves seemed to miss chances to put pressure on the defenders with repeats. Other than that there are positives including a release of the media pressure and the winning feeling coursing through the veins. It was what I expected but the last five minutes shook my confidence a little.

No improvement..

I understand it wasn't a good win but come on, that's just not true.

If we put in the same effort as last week, we would have lost.

Wayne giving the boys the handshakes - happy coach. Happy fan here. Haven't enjoyed a grinding win like that for...months.

For a rookie centre, in his second 80 minute game of first grade, to have the confidence to rush in and not only shut down the play but also force the error was huge.

I've been really impressed with Opacic. To come into a side that's struggling, and perform, really says a lot about his character.

I know somewhere @Splinter will be happy.

Toms a a good kid. I think he will get better when he gets a few more games under his belt and starts to feel a part of the team more.

He was my Dally M of the year for the last 2 years in a row in RLL3 lol

Okay, the effort was definitely better. Defence was better due to the presence of Gillett. The attack was bloody poor though. So yes, I concede there was some improvement. But I still believe nothing I saw tonight gave me the confidence we could win next week or the week after. Hopefully the win is enough to kick-start the boys though.

We did enough, clearly. We did not do 'well'. We barely held off arguably the worst team in the comp (who played in the exact same conditions...) and it was a knock on decision for a no-try that allowed us the win after we stopped playing at the 60 minute mark, not anything we did 'well'.
