Round 8 - Broncos vs Bulldogs - Build Up Thread

Argh, mate's 21st on Friday, will have to record the game and somehow not learn the result. :|

Massive danger game, Tolman is a machine and Barba is carving up.

Finally playing a team in good form coming off a win so we get to see where we stand.

We can win 7 in a row but IMO this will be our toughest game yet.

I won't be upset if we lose this one, as long as it is competitive. Dogs are going great.

I'd like to see Hannant hit some good form up against his former club, shouldn't be hard to get motivation considering the player that replaced him is doing so well.

Of the sides we have player, Raiders are the only ones that were coming off a win so far this year (and they haven't won any since).

Tolman is meh.

Sure, he gets through a lot of work - but he doesn't make many meters off his runs and he doesn't bend the line.

Barba is the one we should be worried about.

Tolman is awesome would have at the Broncos in a heart beat.

Ennis is the danger up the middle of the ruck, especially if he links with the speed of Barba. Pritchard and Eastwood are the other conerns on the fringe.

I'd back either Reed or Hodges to contain Idris (to an extent anyway) at the moment.

I really hope our defence can stand up to the Doggies attack, if we lose in a low scoring tight one I will be happy with that. Doggies have points in them and this is a true to test to our defence IMO.

I don't think Ennis is any more a danger than Farah, and Marshall makes up for Barba.

It's their forwards who are their main danger. That's where this one will be one or lost - up the middle.

On form, it's 50 -50 in my view. Losing will be a great lesson for the next game.

Well one-on-one I've think we've got their forwards covered. Ennis' craftiness in the ruck is what makes them dangerous. And to be fair, Farah and Marshall were very disjointed last week. Plus I feel Pritchard will be in one of those destructive moods..

Losing would be a good lesson for the game after, ever more so considering it's Melbourne.

It's all a question of form, or rather developing incrementally with each match. On current form, there is little reason why we shouldn't contain Ennis and Pritchard.

Griffin's game plans show a refreshing intelligence in identifying the oppositions strengths and weaknesses, and having his team working well together and with him to execute the game plan(s). I'm sure part of that will be to nail Ennis quickly and restrict his time and space.

As always, it will come down to mistakes: lost ball and missed tackles.

My main worry remains that, the unexpected aside, we lack the attacking creativity around the ruck with Macca and Hunt to outscore a team in good form like the Dogs. That means there is more pressure on Locky and Wallace who have so far responded magnificently.

However, as we come up against consistent, disciplined sides (Storm, Dragons, Dogs), I worry that the pressure on Lockyer and Wallace will take its toll.

Still, maybe I will be pleasantly surprised. After all, I have been with the incredible form of Parker this year.

I'm not too confident this week. either way, loving the attitude from the team. so proud.

I'm really loving this coach and the way the players are responding to him, and the way some younger players are really blossoming. Yow Yeh, Hoffman, Beale, Reed, even Copley come to mind.

Each week, the team does things a little better. Now that to me is a sign of very good coaching.
