So this is the run home to the finals...

just about EVERYONE on bhq is writing off the Broncos chances, but you know what, with 10 games to go against the above teams, i reckon we are a good chance of winning ATLEAST 8. Once at full strength the only two teams in that mob i can see coming close to us are the Dragons and Cowboys and we have beaten the cows already this year, i dont see why we cant again. The dragons will be the toughest but we should have built a lot of momentum by the time we play them and im waiting to see if their forwards will still be firing after a long season (with such a big representation in origin which they are not use to).

so in summary, lets say we have another absolute shocker, and lose the presumed two hardest games. that will put us on 15 wins for the season plus the two byes (one to come) so 34 points. that SHOULD put us in the top 4 with momentum going in to the finals.

maybe im being too optimistic but i see this as a real posibility.

What games does everyone else see us winning/losing?

The way we have been playing, I can only see us getting the 2 points from the bye.

We won't lose to the Panthers in Brisbane absolute madness I tell you.. I would trade my leftie in for a win over the Dragons at the Gong.... We should win 9/10 in the run home no excuses..

If Henjak gives the players a week's vacation after Origin like Bennett has done since 2006, I wouldn't be surprised if we lose most of the first 3 or 4 games after the bye. Same thing happened last season against the Dogs.

WOW is that really our run home? I'm actually confident we can go well and perhaps get top 4 if the team turn up. Most of those match ups if Broncos play to their potential should be wins and even "good" wins now heres hoping we win all 10 get the minor premiership and win the next 3 in a row and win the comp. (Tuesdays are heaps boring aye!)

Yeah I don't think a rest is necessary this year. The whole squad got a week off with the swine flu thing, Locky didn't play after game 1, and might not after 2 and 3, and Thaiday, Hunt and Wallace are all young and should be able to cope. We're not in the same situation as other years.

That being said, I think some of you are being a little optimistic about the next few weeks. Things have been a mess at the Broncos for about a month now, both on and off the field, and that won't change until origin is over. It's pretty hard to fix your problems when your senior players are in and out of the squad and all over the place.

I'm not generally negative about football, but I'm wary of expecting things to change when their training is so disrupted. There aren't any games we can't win, but I think it's going to be a lot tougher than some are predicting.

Um LOLZ. Dude, we have FOUR origin players. Lockyer, Wallace, Thaiday and Hunt.

Do you seriously think they're going to need a long earned break because of origin? The reason for our 2006 break was mainly due to the toll it took on our forwards, so considering we only have 1 forward in origin, we don't need a rest.

It's absolutely crazy to suggest that we should have a break after origin, especially considering our recent form.

Lets get cracking.

All those "don't write us off yet" posters - let's hope it starts with the eels.

However, if this attitude turns up against the first four teams and we only win half... well - hold on to your hats! It will be a nervous run to the finals that is for sure.

I think we can bank on 5 wins and anything more will be a bonus. 5 wins takes us to 30 points with the bye and that should see us finish 6 - 8.
Once the finals start I think we can beat any team on a given day bar Melb.

If we rely on individual brilliance, we might win 1 or 2.

If we start playing as a team, playing for each other, we can win every match.

That run home is one of the easiest we have had in years. Dragons, Titans, Cowboys will be the toughest, but there's no reason that an improvement in form shouldn't result in 6-8 wins from that run. We have the roster to do it, we just need to tighten up the defense and show some more determination and we can do it.

As in most years gone by, we have the roster to win every match - barring injuries to key players.

My chief concerns this year are Henjak and the lack of a consistently effective 9.

I suppose Henjak deserves some latitude as it's his first year.

Is this really the sort of run home you want to be building up to finals with though? Yes, we might win 7-8 of the remaining 10 games, but that would hardly give me faith that we could compete with the big guns (dragons, bulldogs etc) come finals time. It might give the players a false sense of secutiry that they are actualyl going well, when in reality, they are just beating some of the lesser teams in the comp
