Big men
Tevita Pangai Junior and Matt Lodge have been named to play in the Broncos’ opening trial game against Wynnum Manly Seagulls on Friday night at Kitchener Park.

Pangai and Lodge had limited game time in 2020 and with the first trial limited under NRL guidelines to players with 12 games or less last season, it is a great opportunity for both props to get valuable game time. They will be joined by a host of other Broncos with NRL experience including
Richie Kennar, Jesse Arthars, Tesi Niu, Tyson Gamble, Ethan Bullemor and Keenan Palasia.

A number of train-and-trial players who have been part of the Broncos’ preseason will also play, including former Cronulla and Gold Coast half Albert Kelly who has impressed since his return to training in recent weeks, as well as former Warriors and Titans forward Leivaha Pulu.

Coach Kevin Walters has rated this year’s trials as crucial to finalising his team for Round 1 against Parramatta on March 12 at Suncorp Stadium:

“Trials in recent years haven’t been so important but I feel this year with the limited trials that players have limited opportunity to be right for Round 1 when we take on Parramatta. Because of the season that the Broncos had last year, everyone is fighting for positions – plenty of competition in the group which is what we want.”

2. Richie Kennar
3. Jesse Arthars
4. Tesi Niu
5. Dale Copley

Looking forward to seeing walsh, tesi at centre and a bit more of bullemore.

Like bullemor at 13 and exciting to see walsh and cobbo , although not expecting to much from the latter.

Really good to see Bull at 13, he has the potential to be our 13 this year. TPJ at prop is interesting after Walters said he was going to play him on an edge.

Prop may just be to keep him more involved, plus we may not have any other forwards that could play prop that played under 12 games - even Kennedy played 13 last year. He may have a licence to roam around a bit too

Looking forward to seeing Walsh. Hopefully he gets involved and uses his speed and footwork.
I am not at all sold on Issaako and feel that if he has a slow start to the year he may well be shopped around. It'd be interesting to see where Walsh sits in the pecking order.
I like what Kevvie is doing, now hopefully this squad puts some heat on the 17.

Looks like Walsh will play first half at Fullback then Cobbo will get a go in the second half..... But Cobbo will play fullback for Wynnum in the first half before switching sides at half time.

Interesting, thought he was a center more than anything.

Yeah I am excited to see how some of the kids come on, that is my excitement for this year, to see how many of Piakura, Riki, Walsh, Cobbo, Staggs, Dearden, etc come on as much as we hope AND see how many we can retain when competing with the Roosters (and for some reason these days, Titans).

1000% yes. Trials are where dreams are made. Big hopes riding on Reece Walsh.

Looks like there's a live stream on Broncos .com for the Seagulls trial from 7.30 pm . Sorry if this is old news.
Choice. I'm going to attempt to convince myself to attend the game. I'm very lazy but I think it'd be worth going. When Seeplod had our team( early days) I looked for structured play, even moments of it but found nothing and even though I know it's the first hit out I want to see moments of cohesion. Evidence that KW has a style he's demanded from everyone including hopefulls.

Wynnum Manly Seagulls Line-Up
1. Selwyn Cobbo 2. Ed Burns 3. Junior Pauga 4. Delouise Hoeter 5. Mathew Lyons 6. Kauri Aupouri-Puketapu 7. Sam Scarlett 8. Aaron Rockley 9. Jayden Berrell 10. Max Elliott 11. Matiu Love-Henry 12. TC Robati 13. Luke Bateman

14. Tristan Hope 15. Lachlan Lee 16. Lucky Taavale 17. Lazarus Vaalepu 18. Jack Campagnolo 19. Harrison Graham 20. Kelepi Faufaka 21. Ryan O'Keefe 22. Jacob Sturt 23. Ben Farr 24. Sebastian Winters-Chang 25. Emmanuel Tuimavave-Gerrard 26. Tom Farr

TC Robati is also contracted to the Broncos.

I'm keeping an eye out for #24. He was with the Bulldogs last year on a development deal and was one of the best outside backs coming through Queensland a few years back.

Bring it on! Really looking forward to seeing how the boys are travelling after preseason!

Ed burns hey? He was all the talk at the start of last year. And how is matui love Henry travlleing? Used to be contracted with us?
