This is surprisingly stacked, considering our Hooker troubles

Shows we had a horrible run in this position all decade. None of them held the position for more than 2 seasons. Terrible.

I voted Priddis.

I'm sure once we've done the starting side Penny will have a bench vote with the leftovers.

Priddis for sure.

Berrigan unlucky to miss out.

I voted for Priddis he is far and away the best hooker we have had since Walters left.

Berro is the best ever!

Berro was a great player but he played about 10 games at hooker and only two of them (Bulldogs and the Storm finals matches) were actually really very good performances.

the next Decade we will be voting for McCullough

IMO there is no chance we would of won 06 without Berro. Even if it was only 10 or so games IMO he was as good as any other hooker in the competition and the fact that he was playing equal(or close to) time to Smith and even got picked ahead of him at one stage to me proves he was awesome at the role.

Long live Berrigan icon_smile

He got picked before Smith for what? Berrigan has never started a rep game at hooker as far as I am aware? Priddis was an unsung hero of our 2000 premiership the guy in the early 00's was outside of Buderus the games best hooker and was probably the best passer from dummy half in the game. Berrigan was an explosive player with limited skills who worked because teams found him unpredictable, he would never have worked there for a long period because sides would have figured him out. Great player but his best role was as a Mr.Fix-it he never consistently played great in any one position but was excellent at filling in when we needed a stop gap.

Berro was a great utility. Good at a lot of positions, great at none. He was great in 06. Moving him to hooker coincided with moving Hodges to fullback. Great tactical move by Bennett. But Berro didn't play a real hooker's role. Hell, he defended in the centres. Stagg took up the traditional hooker spot in defence.

Priddis and Ennis were by far the best hookers we had in this decade. Priddis wins due to winning a comp and being far more consistent IMO.

Priddis by a country mile. i think the only position with less possible certainty is Lockyer at Fullback. Priddis is not only the best hooker we've had - i think EVER, not just this decade - but hes one of the best hookers this generation. He single handedly won Penrith that grand final in 2003, and was just great to watch.

Priddis - too easy.

I thought Ennis might have stayed longer...

We've had big trouble in this hooker position over the past decade. Abysmal to be honest. Possibly cost us a title or two and didnt WB admit himself Priddis was a killer loss that he regretted the most?

WB was the one who told him to go, we didnt 'lose' him. He told him to go because he saw Michael Ryan as the future of our hooker position. look how well that turned out for us.

[icon_frown It still cuts me up. The one out of all the guys we have had to let go for cap related reasons that still annoys me. He was desperate to stay and for moderate money yet we showed faith in a tiny unproven hooker in Mick Ryan, as WB said himself this was his worst moment in this department.

Yep. Salary cap was the excuse, but it was a poor decision. Particularly given the ridiculously big, long contracts offered to Brad Meyers and Dane Carlaw who turned to shit after that.

Hindsight is 20/20 guys. Its easy to say now that Priddis was a better option than Carlaw or Meyers.
