Not sure it's been mentioned, but Telstra yesterday agreed to terms with the NRL to remain naming and online broadcast holder.

The terms are:
• Exclusive broadcast rights of all NRL matches for mobile and tablet devices*,
• Naming rights to the Premiership and Sunday Football,
• Operation of the NRL website and related team sites, the official NRL app, and the official NRL fantasy games;
• Extensive highlights packages during and after games
• Exclusive post game access/press conferences to mobile and tablet devices
• Extensive signage and marketing activation rights.
*Five matches per round live and three as per Nine Network broadcast times

I wonder if Telstra really _will_ broadcast the 5 Foxtel games live on mobile devices?

That would be rad as my tablet is with Telstra.

Hope it's free data use for Telstra customers. Would be cool to watch on the 920

i saw all this yesterday and am still as confused about Foxtel on Xbox 360 rights as before lol.

hoping someone can answer - will foxtel on 360 be able to show live NRL matches or not?

i found this: http://www.foxtel.com.au/whats-on/f...re-nrl-broadcast-rights-until-2018-196359.htm

"All matches on FOX SPORTS will be broadcast in High Definition, with no ad breaks during play. In a major coup for fans, FOX SPORTS has also acquired digital rights to stream its five live weekly matches via IPTV and tablet devices."

does foxtel on 360 classify as IPTV? can you now watch NRL live on tablets through foxtel AND through telstra?

edit:
"Our new digital and IPTV rights will also enable us to deliver live streaming of matches to iPad, following the path of Foxtel's incredibly successful London 2012 app. We will also make all of our matches available on demand through Foxtel."

ok so foxtel streaming to ipad as well as telstra streaming to ipad. making matches available "on demand" through foxtel doesnt say live, so im guessing not :(. dammit thats all i wanted.

I'm in the USA next year. Can I watch nrl or qCup games on bigpond tv?

Why can't they let us watch it on the PC.

The AFL one is. I watched a few games on my phone this season, it works pretty well. Will be fun to do it with an actual sport.

Can anyone translate if that means legal, live streaming on the PC / Mobile devices for all 8 games?

If so I'm cancelling my Foxtel for good and getting a streaming package when the NRL season starts.

I also want to watch some NRL on my Lumia 920 :D

Probably because of this.

Given what Foxtel is worth to the game I imagine it would be very hard to get that money back by offering streaming subscriptions.

Doesn't the AFL do live streaming? How's that any different to Foxtel?

For me it's pretty much a case of streaming or Foxtel gets none of my money, so many people are full digital these days... I watch EPL with a streaming subscription which Foxtel offers so I don't see why they can't come to an arrangement for the NRL, even if it isn't cheap.

AFL tends to do everything better than anything NRL related.

Except the sport itself of course.

What is the difference between live streaming on an app for Iphone or IPad or live streaming on a PC?

It Foxtel/Telstra are going to be asses I'll keep the iPad work is giving me and use AirPlay to watch it on my TV since I already own an Apple TV.

In one of the articles it mentions it will be available on the Android app as well.

Bigpond sport is big and clunky and straight from 2004. Whoa, online videos!!!

The NRL had the right idea when it created a channel on youtube for NRL highlights.

Anyone not on Bigpond gets a shitty online experience. The only people I know with bigpond are my mum and the rest of the population over 55 have Telstra Bigpond (and probably Nashy cos he loves Telstra). I always giggle whenever I see someone with an @bigpond.net.au address... guaranteed older person.

I might have a warped view as Broncos supporter given 95% of my team's games are televised on free to air (which I usually record and watch whenever).
