The Footy Show last night

it was cringeworthy.

Would have to be one of worst shows of the year.

Lockyer was on for a little bit, but he had to leave early. (looked like he was so grateful that he could escape)

After the show ended, I watched the AFL version. It was first class.

It had coaches/players interviewed from the others teams on who would win etc.

I thought it was ok, especially early on. As soon as the "games" part of it comes on, or Mario Fenech, that's when it goes to poo.

I've told anyone who cared to listen for a long time now that imo one of the real shames about RL is that it seriously lacks intelligent and vigorous discussion and analysis of the game itself in broadcast media .. The AFL has that to boot (pardon the pun) and it's something I've always admired about their code - commentators and former players ect who can just talk about the game and how it's played by different teams / players etc for hours on end.

Having said that imo the AFL has a distinct advantage over RL in this regard in that it boasts many more articulate characters who CAN ACTUALLY TALK about the game (or about anything for that matter). It never ceases to embarrass listening to the majority of league players struggle to string a meaningful sentence together in interview / public situations.

If the AFL show didn't have Sam Newman, it would be boring as hell. He's the reason why it's so much better IMO.

I HATE Sam Newman. He is a useless moronic embarrassment of a human. He is one of the main reasons the AFL show isn't any more viewable to me than the NRL show.
