The Pearl Highlights

Thanks for that. I did enjoy. He reminds me of Milford ... and a (rare) centre who not only is always looking to pass/offload, but actually does.

Just brilliant.

I have high hopes of Copley approaching that level - he has the footwork, but for now lacks safe hands and composure.

And more generally, it's so good to watch teams whose games are based on actually passing the ball to support runners

One of the greatest centres to ever play the game. Hodges would have emulated him perfectly were it not for his many injuries slowing him down

Thank you for that it was truly awesome watching those highlights. Can't believe the acceleration he had from a standstill just amazing.

One of my favourite Broncos and a nice guy as well

Its so great to see such attacking brilliance, not only from Renouf, but the style of rugby league played in the 90's. I wish rugby league had remained the way it used to be rather than what it has become today.

It was way more exciting back then. Today's game hardly allows for players like Renouf to shine due to all the wrestling garbage and the extremely boring yet similar gameplans all teams share.

Anyway, of all the current players, Dane Gagai reminds me somewhat of Renouf. There's just something about him that I saw in Renouf...

Agreed .....runs with the ball in a very similar way.

Geeeeeze he was quick! Where did the nickname orginate from?

I think the footwork, fend, speed, acceleration and he's physical stature are all strikingly similar. I seriously think we'll see Gagai in Broncos colours in the future. Meanwhile I hope he can continue to improve. He's shown a lot of progress in recent seasons, given he's actually a fullback rather than a centre.

I don't think Gagai or Copley are really like Renouf. Copley is Tate (in attack only), Gagai is more like Hodges.

That could be the worst highlight reel ive ever sat through. 8 minutes of g funk samples over grainy footage of line breaks.

Well you were never going to get 4k footage.

Dont really understand the comparison. Gagai is quick off the mark and very elusive whereas hodges is good in traffic, not notoriously fast and beats people with his fend, not his speed or evasive skills. The renouf comparison is apt to me

I'm not saying that Gagai is a deadringer for Renouf in terms of style and the way they play, its just that some things are quite similar.

In some instance Copley's footwork somewhat remind's me of Mark Gasnier. Just the "shimmy-shimmy and away" and the way he stands his opposition defender up before putting on a step. Just some slight similarities...

That's what I saw when I made the comparison, but I guess others don't see things the same way. Hodges is very unique in the way he moves and does things. He sort of glides across the field very nonchalantly without looking fast at all. Hodges has good acceleration though and he is deceptively quicker than he seems. In my opinion Gagai and Hodges are nothing alike.

Just seeing those highlights is like a wonderful childhood memory flooding back. Sitting with Mum and Dad on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon watching the Broncos globetrotters.

That team was the entertainers, and Renouf was just as an important cog as Langer and Walters. They were like superheroes to me - always pulling the win out of the fire. Great stuff!

Hope my little boy (and girl, when she arrives :-)) get to experience that joy as future Broncos fans with the latest crop of talent.

Thanks for the Friday morning suprise
