Half-way through the season, who do you think is absolutely no hope of winning the premiership and prepared to eliminate from relativity?

How high would you go? St. George? Warriors? ...South Sydney?

Cronulla.
Tigers.
Everyone below the Tigers.

Good to see some controversy in this thread.

Why don't you think some of these top 8 sides will win the premiership?

Sharks are in the top 8 because they have a high floor. They are the type of team who every week put in at least a 6/10 performance, but aren't really capable of putting in an 8/10 performance. What makes them successful in the regular season is why they wont win past that.

As for the Tigers, they just lack character. Their level of skill while quite high, simply isn't high enough to compensate for their lack of gumption.

Oh, the Warriors can still win. So much untapped potential in their team. Not too likely, but they are far more dangerous than the Tigers and Sharks, and even some teams I listed as being capable of winning it who are in the top 8.

I agree with Ari's estimate, however, while the Warriors are capable of getting on a run, they won't.

I don't think Souths can win it this year and I have my doubts on the Dogs winning it as well.

Yeah Dogs are still a chance but I get the feeling they will be found out eventually. I do however think the Tigers are a red hot chance.

I'd say the entire bottom 8 + Souths and Cronulla are no chance.

Manly are capable, but won't because 2 in a row just doesn't happen lol.

All that said, you never know when a nuffie team might go on an amazing run like Parra of 2009 or to a lesser extent Roosters of 2010. Although they both lost in the GF..

I like bait...

If I was compiling a list of favourites it would probably go...

1. Melbourne
2. Manly
3. Brisbane
4. West Tigers

Manly and Brisbane are the only ones who can win IMO. (assuming sides have little injury impact). The dogs have caught a lot of attention but I think they are a side that will lose one first. Melb just don't have the forward pack to stand up 3 big games in a row particularly the props.

NQ could do something but will have to come from 5 or lower which will prove too much for them.

Two in a row will happen 2012-2013.

What I should have said is that 2 in a row only happens for us.

After tonight, I'm ready to put Cronulla below the line. If they couldn't flog us, despite us missing 7 Origin players and having two guys out injured for most of the game, they won't get very far in the finals.

I agree with Ari.

However, Souths also wont make the GF.

Storm, Manly, Dogs, darkies Broncos, Warriors, Cowboys.

The rest are just fillers.

They were missing Carney, who is probably their only attacking player I rate, so they were never going to put on big points (although they nearly did).

Agreed on the Cowboys.

Only players I rate are Scott, Tamou & JT. The latter hasn't been in good form all season.

The rest are either past their best (Bowen, Tate, Payne, Hall, Johnson) or plain cod ordinary (Graham, Linnett, Winterstein, Thompson, Cooper, A. Sims etc.)

They really needed Tariq & Segeyaro to be a shot this year. As it stands, can't see them winning until some of the young guns step up.
