There's always plenty of hype around players in the NRL who are about to make their mark on State of Origin.
But which young guns are showing their potential at the lower levels? Who are the teenagers impressing recruiters and scouts with their athleticism and dedication to making a career in the NRL?
While the pool of emerging talent in Queensland is deep, we've cut it back to 25 young guns that we're excited about.

Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow (North Queensland Cowboys)
TABUAI-Fidow is one of those young players that already has YouTube highlights. The 17-year-old is a flashy, lightning fast fullback or winger contracted to the Cowboys. A Cairns Kangaroos junior, Tabuai-Fidow was a standout in GPS rugby with Brisbane Grammar School, which led the Cowboys to sign him. He played Mal Meninga Cup last year and has also represented Australia at the All Schools Championships in athletics.

Reece Walsh (Brisbane Broncos)
THE Keebra Park fullback has already been identified as a young leader, after he captained the Queensland under-16s side this July. Contracted to the Broncos, he is now in the under-18s emerging squad and can also play in the halves. He is a Gold Coast product, having played his junior football with the Nerang Roosters, and has also represented the Queensland under-16s Murri team. Walsh is known for his on-field communication and confidence, but also his strong work ethic.

Jack Howarth of the Melbourne Storm

Jack Howarth (Melbourne Storm)
HOWARTH has already attracted a lot of attention for his efforts as a centre with Brisbane Boys' College in GPS rugby but it seems his future lies in rugby league. Originally from Rockhampton, Howarth is affiliated with Melbourne and was last month named in the Queensland Emerging Origin under-18s squad. He is shaping up to be a tall, athletic forward in rugby league.

Brendan Piakura (Brisbane Broncos)
ANOTHER Gold Coast product, Piakura can play second row or at lock. He has come through the ranks with Helensvale Hornets Junior Rugby League club and Coombabah State High School. He represented the Queensland under-16s team at lock this year and is also part of the under-18s emerging squad named last month. Queensland development coaches are keeping a close eye on him as he continues to bloom.

A baby Sam with dad Ben and mum Kylie in 2003. He’s added a bit of size since this photo.

Sam Walker (Brisbane Broncos)
THE Walker last name is a famous one at the Brisbane Broncos and it seems the next generation is also on the radar. Sixteen-year-old Sam is the son of former NRL player Ben Walker and the Ipswich talent is tipped to be a rising star of rugby league. The young playmaker, who attends Ipswich Grammar, is in Brisbane's development system and is on the brink of making state representative teams in 2019.

Walsh was outstanding for the U16 this year- Mick Roberts was so impressed with him all week- he named him captain. Walker I have spoken about before- great kid and just a very instinctive footballer.

Corey Horsburgh (Canberra Raiders)
THE Redcliffe junior has been compared to Broncos duo Corey Parker and Josh McGuire for his on-field work rate. A fiery middle forward, Horsburgh hails from Caboolture and has plenty of experience under his belt, having played with the Cowboys in the under-20s. He has also been selected in the Queensland under-20s for the last two years. Now with the Raiders, there is a bright future ahead for the 20-year-old.

Fanitesi Niu (Brisbane Broncos)
A FULLBACK hailing from Inala, Niu has capped off a strong 2018 with the Australian Schoolboys tour of Britain. The Marsden State High School product has been labelled by the QRL as a “Queenslander to watch” after representing the state’s under-18s team a year young. He has formed a strong combination with fellow Bronco and Queenslander Tanah Boyd through these representative teams and is highly regarded as a star of the future.

Ethan Bullemor playing for Nudgee College last year.
Ethan Bullemor (Brisbane Broncos)
THE 18-year-old forward has modelled his game off Bronco Matt Gillett. An OP 1 student from Nudgee College, Bullemor is a perfectionist who has worked hard to achieve his goals on and off the field. He played under-18s and 20s with the Norths Devils in 2018 and even managed to squeeze in a couple of Intrust Super Cup appearances towards the end of the season. After representing the Queensland under-18s in the front row this year, he has now been named in the state’s under-20s emerging Origin squad.

Palm Beach Currumbin product Juwan Compain was with the Broncos but asked for a move to the Gold Coast Titans. Picture: Richard Gosling

Juwan Compain (Gold Coast Titans)
THE 17-year-old second-rower made the Australian schoolboys side that toured Britain this year. Tough, physical and professional in his approach, he was with the Broncos but requested to join the Titans’ elite development squad. He played in the Palm Beach Currumbin team that won the NRL Schoolboy Cup national final this year. In 2019, he is still eligible for under-18s and will play at Tweed Seagulls but may get some Intrust Super Cup exposure.

Xavier Coates in action for Tweed Heads.

Xavier Coates (Brisbane Broncos)
A RECENT graduate from Marymount College, Coates is a tall and athletic outside back currently within the Broncos’ development system. The Gold Coast product also plays with Tweed Heads Seagulls and is known for his speed and ability under the high ball. Was last month named in the Queensland emerging Origin under-18s squad.

Bullemor is my favourite today, absolute stand out on and off the field. He is a smart player. Loved watching him this year play MM and ISC.

Pin balls around the field.

Hello ASRL people. You guys are going to love this thread haha. Shoutout to Anthony!

love this thread...thanks for posting it..seems we are looking at the 2022 Broncos line up at times.

Takes me back to the days of high school footy; Miami High on the Gold Coast used to smash teams for Breakfast...Tang was our stand out guy (Andrew Tangata-toa), and then we'd play PBC (Palm Beach Currumbin)....Ben Ikin would just murder us...

So did this ever finish...or did they give up like QLD yesterday?
