Pffff, somehow I don't think Nikorima will be leaving us to go to Newcastle. Play on the bench and win a premiership, or go to Newcastle and be the barer of all their burdens just like his brother was to the Roosters before they threw him back to reserve grade.
NEWCASTLE is in dire straits. There’s no hiding it.
A 62-0 thrashing at the hands of Cronulla on Sunday is the latest embarrassment in what has been a dismal season for the Hunter club.
So what’s the answer?
NRL 360 co-host Paul Kent says the Knights must avoid a knee-jerk reaction by lashing out and spending big money on an established star.
He would rather see the money invested in developing someone they can build a club around.
“I like what the Titans have done with a player like Ash Taylor,” Kent told NRL 360.
“They went after Cherry-Evans, couldn’t get him, so they said let’s fine a really good young kid coming through and let’s invest in him.”
Kent has identified one young talent the Knights could chase.
“A player like Kodi Nikorima, who is behind Andrew McCullough at the Broncos, and is probably going to be behind him for some time to come,” Kent said.
“Say to Kodi Nikorima come to our club, you’ll play first grade, and we’ll start to build a club around you.

“Taught the right lessons early he could be a mainstay of the Knights for a decade.”
Nikorima has been playing off the bench for Brisbane for the past two seasons and has already represented New Zealand at Test level.
He is off contract with the Broncos this year.
