Thurston Arrested

Replace footballer with politician, TV star, high profile musician etc etc etc.

Fact is if a person is a public figure they are well known and so their transgressions - bad or otherwise - are news. That's the society in which we live.

Thurston has no one to blame but himself, he is one of those few who give league players a bad name. I'm sure others have also heard plenty of stories about him.

Yes he was only play wrestling. So what, lots of guys get up to that? The real question is how many end up on top of a cab, then laugh at police and refuse to obey a move on order.

He's been in all sorts of trouble before, had all sorts of warnings yet he continues to carry on like a goose. He's an idiot saved only by his ability to play good footy.

ban him from playing altogether.....brought the game into disrepute...let's get him....gee bannermania....you seem a trifle miffed...be great if you were here to tell me to my face...needless to say you'd peak....met you before and you were soft then too....

Let the Cops deal with him and the Cowboys will probably give him a fine just for bad publicity.

I hope you are taking the piss.

He did the wrong thing. He got drunk acted a goat and got locked up for a couple hours to sober up. Big deal. He'll get the consequences coming but he didn't rape anyone, he didn't shit in a hotel room, he didn't get caught with a couple pills in his pocket.

Looks like Thurston could be stripped of the captaincy now.. I doubt he will enjoy that.

He copped his fair punishment, end of story. There really should be no further action, it's not a big deal, a bit stupid but nothing more tbh.

I hope he's stripped of the captaincy.

He does have some leadership qualities but I think he's a poor captain.

I'll be surprised if they strip him of the captaincy. JT runs the Cowboys, not the other way around

without JT the cowboys wont win more than 4 games a seaso.............oh wait........never mind.

Problem for you guys is that you gave him the captaincy in the first place. JT seems like the kind of guy who would walk if the captaincy got taken off him.

Ideally cowboys give him the sack, no teams besides the Broncos want to touch him so we get him real cheap lol.

Good riddance I say, if he has that attitude.

We need a change of culture at the club, the players have too much power at the moment.

It would hurt in the short term but we have a couple of good young halves coming through who I think could be solid first graders, at the very least.

Despite what most people think, we can compete without JT. IMO our best season was 2004, before JT even signed, they were winning games with heart and commitment.

I thought we were lucky to make the GF in 2005.

Agree with that. Nathan Fien that year, outstanding. Particularly in that qualifying final against the Bulldogs.

Just think back then the Cowboys had Bowen, Sing, Williams, Bowman, Hannay, Rauhihi, Payne and O'Donnell in career best form. Great side it was.

Aye.

I remember going to the preliminary final against the Roosters. Cowboys scored more tries, but still lost. Damn shame.

Loved that team, played some enterprising footy. Plus, Travis Norton was a champ!

Disagree.

That was 5 years ago and it was a different style of play and roster the Cowboys had going... since JT, for the better or worse the team has revovled around him (aka Johns/Newc). To compete without JT in the short term - it woudln't work. We're talking major overhaul - I doubt this is what the Cowboys are looking for.
