Two Brisbane Broncos stars have taken time out from their schedule to visit sick children at the Starlight Express Room in Brisbane's Lady Cilento Hospital.

Ben Hunt and Jordan Kahu took part in a meet and greet with the kids, as well an array of games with the children that left huge smiles on all of their faces.

The Starlight Foundation's mission is to brighten the lives of seriously ill children and both Hunt and Kahu managed to do that as the kids met their heroes.

Hunt was kind enough to take time away from the enlightening experience to talk to NRL.com about his side's run home.

He said he would continue to try and improve his own form as the season nears its most important stage, and was also looking forward to having a fit and healthy squad around him now that the Origin period is over.

"We are about to get the whole squad back together and that's when things start to gel a bit more," Hunt said.

"Everyone gets back into training and it's great having the same people around every week and not losing people every couple of weeks.

"Origin isn't an excuse because we go through it every year. Last year we went through it really well.

"The blokes who aren't in Origin have dropped in form over that period and that includes myself.

"We all need to get back together and get back to where we need to be.

"The biggest thing for me is to run the ball a bit more because I don't think I've been doing that enough this year.

"I've been working hard on other facets of my game and I've let that slip away a bit."

Hunt will get a good chance to test his running game against a huge South Sydney forward pack when the Broncos travel to Sydney on Saturday night to play the Rabbitohs at ANZ Stadium.

South Sydney are in crisis – slipping to 12th on the ladder and managing just five wins for the season.

The Rabbitohs have lost 11 games in 2016, with one of those coming at the hands of Brisbane in Round 8.

That matched finished 30-8 in the Broncos' favour, with South Sydney having no answers to a Brisbane side that was then in red-hot form.

But the Broncos have now lost six of their last eight matches themselves, and Hunt knows a win is vital if they are to keep in contact with the top four.

"We'll take a bit from the match earlier in the year when we managed to have a good win," he said.

"We'll have a look at a bit of video from that game and look at a few things that worked for us.

"We've already started looking at a few things because they have a massive forward pack and we need to figure out how to exploit that.

"It's important that we have a game plan that will deliver us the win this time around and I guess if we can match it with their forwards then we'll go a long way to getting the two points."

I feel like I've read this article about 3 times already. Tell your forwards to get their asses in gear if you want to turn your season around, Ben.

Use the agility of the pack and ffs give Roberts some early ball

I wonder if they turned up on the same day as Taylor Swift. I wonder what the kids prefer to see.

Go back to last year. We didn't even play that well in the first 10 rounds. Just did enough.

Take on the line more hunty and get some inside balls to milf like last years game against the roosters. Unleash the jet too.

Train hard this pre seasons benny boy. Talk to Lockyer everyday

Turned around a full 360 and that iceberg is still tearing the guts out of our bow.

These articles are starting to remind me of the back end of 2012.

If this season gets much worse(somehow) does anyone think Hunts head might be on the chopping block? If we miss the 8 which is on the cards there will be hell to pay... For all his talent and potential he does some bone headed s*** pretty regularly. Maybe KNico could be the plan B? There will be a clean out in the backline(has to be) and I think that will include Kahu, Reed and Maranta... We should see another prop too hopefully. I just get the feeling the Hunt might be told to look elsewhere if he doesn't get his s*** together soon. His game management and bonehead errors will be his undoing.

The whole team bar two or three players is shit at the moment. Removing the halfback who has carried our team for the past 2 years is fucking ludicrous. Bet you weren't saying that at the start of the year were you

Bennett won't get rid of Hunt after one average season.

He isn't that kind of coach.
