Time to turn Broncos season around: Hunt

I never see Parker barking orders behind the try line after the opposition scores a try. He kinda just meanders around looking all glum. Hodges was a much better leader and the results last year showed.

I remember Reed missed a tackle last year that led to a try. It was a pretty piss poor attempt.

Hodges was there giving him an almighty spray. He didn't miss a tackle for the rest of the game.

Oh shit... he's broken now.

Breakable.

I think what Stix meant, and by all means shoot me down, is that Hunt as the senior half needs to lead the team round the park. Obviously that is made so much easier behind a performing pack where both he and Milford look a million bucks. However when that isn't the case, he needs the ability to try and get us out of trouble, like how Macca kicked the 40/20 last week..

Unfortunately 9 times out of 10 Hunt's kicking game is terrible, and Milford's is barely existent from what I've seen (another thing that needs work). When they can't change momentum running behind a bad pack and they already can't kick us into good position, what's Hunt (especially) offering? Mistakes, especially with the boot. Bad drop outs, chips or grubbers that go to no one or go dead in-goal and clearing kicks that go straight to outside backs. Those things are what fans see as 'critical errors' and it's why he's the first to get blamed when that's all he 'does' in a game, which lets be honest, is warranted to a degree.

He needs to copy Cronk and work his arse off to get at least a decent kicking game in his skill set. Especially since Griffin set his development back 3 years.

Maybe hunt should just opt to kick it out so its a scrum rather than straight at the fullback or wingers.

Didn't take long for the knives to come back out.

Maybe our forwards could get us in a position to allow our halves to put in an attacking kick rather than try and kick for territory. Maybe... just putting that out there.

The thing is, when in the 20, we still have the best strike rate in the comp.

Hunt has a lot to do with that.

The halves are down on confidence and the forwards are not laying a platform. When that changes, you will see a big improvement.

People need to give them time.

It is round 21. Out of 26. I'm afraid the time everyone is calling for is up.

Pretty much, my post wasn't a swipe at Hunt. I'm sure his game would be better behind a better performing pack and his kicking game wouldn't be as crucial if he was kicking from better field position. It's just that I think the halfback needs to be a leader out there on the feild as well as doing his job... Everyone has off games, and there are factors involved in limiting Hunts attacking game. Last week though after the panthers forced the restart and Hunty boots it into touch on the full is a great example of a bone head moment. He has to get that out of his game... His composure or lack of rubs off onto the team when they are looking at their key playmaker for an answer. Leadership is something that we appear to be lacking, and I think Benny Hunt needs to stand up.

Im confused, how does that relate to blaming Hunt for our issues?

Here is a novel idea, how about the 'leadership' comes from our 'leaders'?

Before we move Hunt on, I'd rather a new starting hooker. Perhaps move macca to the bench to add starch in rotation. Geeze a Granville would be handy - someone who can get our forwards on the front foot.

We also need another half to threaten Hunt's position, he was great when he had Taylor knocking on the door.

yeah that's going well for them currently, I see no problem in wanting more out of Ben Hunt...this guy can turn games around single handedly so if he can work on his errors and decision making he'll be the half we need. To revert back to my original post, if our season continues to spiral out of control do you think that some accountability will be placed with our halfback?? With Kodi Nico sitting there gagging for a starting spot in the halves, could Ben Hunt feel some pressure next season... This conversation was never about hating on Hunt, simply thinking out loud.

Well thats pretty self explanatory. Hunts poor form is obviously making him feel sad, and that then has a flow on effect to the forward group, being the highly sensitive emotional empathetic types that they are. Now they are emotionaly battered then they are expected to get physically beaten as well. its hard to make meters, when forced into that state and who can blame them. And its all hunts fault. So selfish.

I believe that we need some new forwards, and change Boyd to captain and we need some new halves hunt hasn't been playing right

I'm not sure how well Granville would do behind a thoroughly beaten pack, or whether our forwards even have front feet at this stage.
