Welp, I guess I may as well break the ice.
Let me start off by saying I stand by everything I have said about Carney in the past 24 hours. If I were the CEO of the Broncos, I would not be touching him with a 20 foot goal post.
However I'm not the CEO. Paul White is, and right now all Paul is seeing is a superstar half without a club and a fanbase that is screaming blue murder about how shithouse Josh Hoffman is in the role, coming off one of the worst defeats the club has ever suffered in which the weaknesses of Hoffman in the 6 played a crucial role in the result. That is the reality.
Whether we like it or not, we're fans of a sport where bad behavior is regularly swept under the carpet. Conrad Hurrell was crucial in the Warriors victory yesterday after being caught on camera receiving a blowjob while driving only a couple of months ago. Blake Ferguson, charged with sexual assault is on the road back to footy at the Roosters. Josh Dugan, a regular dropkick himself, crucial to the Dragons attempts to avoid the spoon and playing State Of Origin Football. Mitchell Pearce, grabbed a woman's arse at a club and has only missed 1 game of footy for the Roosters.
Many would argue if you can't beat them, join them. I disagree. I applaud the tough stance my club takes against bad behavior. How we handled the Dugan saga demonstrates this. There have been missteps in my opinion, such as Gagai, but nothing that we haven't recovered from quickly.
So I pose the question, is it BHQ's opinion that Todd Carney on a 6 month deal before Milford's arrival is worth the risk to salvage our 2014 season? My answer would be no. I would rather risk missing the 8 and putting Griffin on egg shells than sink to that level.
