WOW Brisbane Broncos and NSW Origin player Peter Wallace will travel to Western Queensland for the annual Australia Post Broncos Community Tour next week.
Wallace and future star Gerard Beale will be part of a large Brisbane Broncos contingent that will traverse regional Western Queensland during the annual Australia Post Broncos Community Tour.
The 13th annual Australia Post Broncos Community Tour will kick-off in Toowoomba on Thursday 19th November and travel to Chinchilla, Roma, Charleville, St George and Goondiwindi among several other communities.
During the seven day tour more than 2000 children will attend Broncos training clinics, learning first-class football skills from some of their sporting heroes.
A team of eight including league internationals Michael Hancock and Michael De Vere and former NRL top grader Darren Burns will be among the Broncos' touring party.
Wallace will join the group in Roma before returning to pre-season training in Brisbane over the weekend. Beale, who made his NRL debut for the Broncos this year, will take up with the tour for their scheduled visit to Charleville on Monday.
With tour sponsor Australia Post committed to encouraging the literacy levels of Queensland children, the Broncos are introducing a letter writing competition encouraging participants to share their experiences of the Broncos via mail. Broncos prize-packs are up for grabs, with the lucky winner will have their winning entry published in the next edition of the Bronco magazine early next year.
Members of the public will also have the opportunity to meet their league heroes at a range of appearances at Australia Post outlets.
"Australia Post is committed to fostering a healthy sporting attitude amongst the children of Queensland," said Mrs. Brodie.
"We are proud to have sponsored The Broncos Community Tour, now in its 13th year, since its inception in 1996.
"After tours to North Queensland in the last few years, we are thrilled to see the tour returning to the west to give children a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet their footy heroes and the chance to write to their favourite Broncos player."
Broncos Game Development Co-ordinator Paul Dyer said the Broncos had always been committed to developing the game of Rugby League throughout Queensland.
"Although the emphasis will be on having fun and staying active, the kids will benefit from learning first class coaching tips and skills from current and past Broncos legends," said Dyer.
The Broncos fan base is the most extensive in the nation, having recently been voted in a recent Roy Morgan poll as the most supported sporting team in Australia with 1.26 million fans nationwide.
"The Broncos have a proud history and very loyal fans, some of which travel from country Queensland to attend games on a regular basis" said Broncos Sponsorship Executive Vicki Ciocca.
"Being Queensland's founding league team in the national competition, we still maintain a large fan base throughout the state and continue to develop the game at every opportunity.
"The club has always been committed to recognising the efforts of our fans and realise that a majority are unable to make the long distances to meet their heroes in person.
"Tour and founding club sponsor Australia Post share a common goal with the Broncos in providing unique opportunities to youth and this is a way to reward our country fans.
"The Australia Post Broncos Community Tour has reached in excess of 30,000 Queensland children over the 13-year period. It is only through the ongoing commitment from tour sponsor Australia Post that we are able to bring these tours to regional Queensland."
