A bit of controversy surrounding that.

Watching the footage, Smith was definitely square.

But did he leave too early? It's hard to see with the angle they showed. It was hard to see whether he left before the Cowboys player had even played the ball.

What do you think?

I do think JT has a pretty good point about refs being reluctant to blow a penalty in these types of situations. So many times we should see penalties, and some of the time the reluctance to blow a penalty costs a team.

Offside by a mile, left at least a full second before the cows player plays the ball. That was very clear to see on the footage they showed on Fox after the game.

Boo hoo to the cows. Imagine losing in a GF when half the opposition's team was 5 metres offside and deliberately took out runners.

I wasn't taking the Cows defense, but it was clearly a penalty!
More importantly, it is a fact that the refs are too chicken to blow a penalty when a game is on the line like last night, unless it's to help Souffs or the Bondi grubs get a win.

They showed close up footage on the Footy Show and he wasn't square at all even though it looks like it there.

Yeah that wasn't aimed at you, it was more a reply to the culmination of the thread. If you nit-pick, you'd hardly find a single ruck in the 80 minutes where something can't be penalised. In fact, Thurston is such a competitor that he is always pushing the rules for that slight edge - he's hardly one to blow up when someone else does it.

Thurston can eat a dick. He got his premiership yet he still fucking whinges constantly. Just **** off out of the game you piece of shit.

I saw in the Storm Dragons (I think, or panthers) game earlier this year a dragon player jumped out of marker and caught cam smith offside. Do you know what th ref did.....he told the dragon to go back and play it again and allowed smith to get onside. No penalty, just a do over.

i couldn't believe my eyes. I had always believed the "Smith has the ref in his pocket" line to be nothing but bitter NSW whinging until that point.....but now I'm fully on board, he gets away with more than anyone else.

JT blaming the ref every time he loses is getting old. Coote dropping the ball caused them to lose.
