AUSTRALIA are no longer certainties to lift the World Cup on November 22 - because the trophy is missing.
Once found on a Bradford rubbish tip after being lost for 20 years, the venerable cup was sent from Melbourne to Brisbane by courier late last week. It is the first time it has travelled without an escort so far in the tournament.
The courier company's computer system duly broke down, rendering the scanning system which finds containers and packages inoperable. Officials said last night they thought it was at Brisbane Airport but weren't sure where.
"They still haven't found it? Geez," tournament director Colin Love said to The Daily Telegraph late last night after watching Australia beat Papua New Guinea 46-6.
"I'll just say this. Let's hope it isn't another 20 years before it shows up."
LOL at least it's where it belongs, unless Australia don't' win it, then it's where it belongs anyway!
