We need to talk about Kennedy

I'm starting to see why the Roosters really didn't care about us poaching him. Going on his current form over the past few games, this guy isn't qualified to be a wart on Hargreaves arse. Slow, soft, often flat footed. I don't think he has taken one really hard McG style hitup since he has been playing for us. He's a big impact forward with zero impact.

The problem is I can't think of a forward outside of Hala to bring up to replace him. It's obvious him and Reed need a stint in QLD cup, and Reeds position is easily coverable, but Kennedy, not so much. I only say that because I really don't rate Wallace, although to be fair to him, he hasn't had much chance to prove me otherwise.

I actually believe the new rule changes are having an effect on his performances.

He just seems really slow, like he can't keep up and makes silly errors as a result. The speed of the game suits smaller and more mobile forwards more.

I would give him a stint in the QLD Cup and give Molo a crack.

Becoming a bit like Joel Clinton in that he isn't utterly terrible but it appears he isn't going to live up to the promise.

I don't like the role he's being used in, if he's going to play, he's going to have to start because his strengths lie in his overall game and ability to play long minutes. Short spurts don't suit him.

Not the best start from him.

Don't know what else I can add tbh.

It's not difficult - hit the ball at pace and run straight and hard.

Hala is about the only prop of ours who does this, and he only seems to be good for about five minutes at a time.

I know the game has changed and all that shit, but what the **** happened to a prop being the no-nonsense fella who runs in a straight line and keeps running no matter how many people he's carrying? Too many of these new age players want to jink or change their angle right before they hit the line so they don't get hurt, or can get a quicker play the ball or whatever the tactic of the day is. **** that shit man. Just fucking run as hard as you can and bulldoze your way forward, you're a motherfucking prop. That doesn't just go for Kennedy, that goes for our other props too.

Sigh, I think I enjoy watching rugby league less these days.

I'd love to have someone like Joel Clinton in the team at the moment, always thought he was underrated on here. Sure, we probably paid overs for him, but he was an old school prop. Love watching those guys put it all on the line for their team.

ning and his underdogs. :001_tt2:

I've said it in the past, Clinton wasn't the worst Bronco of all time and was in fact pretty handy in 2009 (especially against Parra at Parra, remember that performance ningers?). My point was that, we bought Clinton expecting him to take his game to the next level and he sort of stagnated...much like Kennedy is doing right now. Also like Clinton, I still think Kennedy has his strong suits...it just isn't worth the amount we're allegedly paying him.

In saying all this, I feel as if McGuire's contribution is being marginalised. I've been impressed with him these past few weeks.

I think props these days should watch Webcke and learn from him. He had a very simple gameplan. Run as hard as he could and tackle as hard as he could.

Kennedy has the strength and body type to be a dominator at the top level, I'm not entirely sure why he doesn't seem to have a massive impact on games.. with his sheer size he should be able to make 12+ metres on average, per run, especially considering he's supposed to come on when there's tired bodies in the middle of the field.

Pete could be on to something with the style Griffin has him playing though, my memories of him at the Roosters was him playing 60+ minutes and being solid all the way through, kind of what McGuire is doing for us at the moment, it may be time to think about giving him a shot at starting prop along side McGuire, moving Parker to lock, Gillett to backrow and have Glenn as an impact player off the bench.

Griffin is wasting Kennedy by not having him start, he needs to be there for the big clashes early on.

Both he and Hannant need to be deeper in attack but our gameplan nowadays doesn't appear to allow for that, it's more flatfooted touchfootball type stuff .... hardly suited to 110kg+ frontrowers.

It's no surprise that Kenbedy's best game was the one he started. I also think he's fairly quick along the ground, he's just quicker to go down when tackled. Hook really needs to make a statement by dropping one of the big name players underperforming in Reed, Kennedy, Hoffman to wing/centre OR (not and) Glenn to the bench. He has the depth this year, use it, it will make the other players take note and step up.

I'd have Kennedy start alongside McGuire. Parker should be lock, Glenn can go to the bench as he's had bugger all impact this year.

Reed should be dropped immediately, Hoffman to left centre inside Vidot and Hodges / Copley on the right edge. We need to find a proper 5/8, Strasser or someone who while not perfect at least has a passing game and perhaps can relieve some kicking / attacking pressure on Hunt and can maybe put a player in a hole...

That and finding the attitude we started the season with, rather than the attitude we had against the Eels and things will look a lot brighter.

I did think the 350K a year we were paying him were massive overs when we signed him. He just hasn't been impressive since he had that big injury a few years ago. He was a bit of a passenger in the Roosters pack last year too, it was JWH, Moa, O'Donnell, SBW, Cordner etc that made them as good as they were. I doubt he would have remained in their main 17 for too long either, with Napa and Evans coming through.

Molo struggled at ISC this year.

Same can be said about Hannant and Thaiday. We've put up with their crap for years, yet when kennedy comes in and dishes up the same we don't like it?

It's 400K a season, and I agree, he was about their 5th choice at prop.

God.. let's talk about hannant last night. How SLOW was he.
