Seeing as we may have a position opening up, I wanted to see who everyone rates as the top 10 league coaches. They don’t have to be currently working but they must be still physically capable of coaching if they wished.

my rough list would look like this:
1. Bellamy
2. Robertson
3. Bennett
4. Hasler
5. Arthur
6. Stuart
7. ???
8. ???
9. ??
10. Madge

As they are currently coaching it's
1. Robertson
2. Bellamy
3. Hasler
4. Arthur
5. Bennett
6. Stuart
7. Holbrook
8. Cleary
9. Madge
10. Green I guess

The top 5 are pretty obvious I think. A prime Bennett is number one though.

I’d say the top 9 on the ladder is a fairly good representation of the top coaches in the league atm. The only change I’d make would be to put Hasler ahead of O’Brien and Stuart.

1. Arthur
2. Cleary
3. Robertson
4. Bellamy
5. Hasler
6. O’Brien
7. Stuart
8. Bennet
9. Madge
10. No one from the remaining teams really deserve to be named on this list

Why have all 3 of you called him Robertson lmao.

His name is Trent Robinson boys.

I think you need to be thinking more in terms of how soccer has managers, rather than just a coach.

You need to recruit, retain, manage cap, people manage.

In this regard I'd rate Hasler high on many points but low on his overall team management, as an example.

For me it would be Gould, Bennett and Bellamy as top 3, and in that order. After that a Robertson/Politis hybrid is a good model, but not repeatable elsewhere.

A Gould/Bennett hybrid would be awesome to watch on a number of levels.

Another one 😂

Admit it! You couldn't get enough of clegane bowl and want something more passionate.
Imagining those two working together for more than a week, would make front rowers tremble with fear.
Two aging alpha males going toe to toe would certainly be different.

Based on how the teams are playing, particularly given the 6 Again Rule, their rosters, and their position on the table:

1. Bellamy
2. Arthur
3. Robinson
4. Cleary
5. Stuart
6. Hasler

Not much between the top 6

7. Maguire
8. O'Brien
9. Bennett

10. The rest

Coaching overall or just in this season? I'll try and go with their Coaching career and legacy overall, but I'll weight it slightly towards their recent form and I'll just include current Coaches:

1. Bennett
2. Bellamy
3. Robinson
4. Stuart
5. Maguire
6. Hasler
7. Arthur
8. Green
9. Cleary
10. Kristian Woolf would be my wild card. His record is awesome but in particular what he achieved with Tonga will hopefully continue to positively impact the International game for many years to come. Really can't understand why no NRL club has snapped him up as a full time Head Coach yet.

#10 has a terrible relationship with players- hard to get on with.

Really? I’ve been throwing around his name flippantly since I got off of Seibold. I was wondering why he’s never in the conversation of a potential NRL gig. What’s the story there?

I guess that Tongan side had so much passion that the coach didnt really need to be the amazing motivator that I assumed he is.

Have a look at Townsville 64% win rate, made the finals every year his four years and one Grand FInal- crashed out every year- by September everyone was tired and over it and ready to throat punch him.

2019 Aaron Payne is a the complete opposite.

But this side needs someone to whip them into shape, the softly, softly approach isn't cutting it.

I would comfortably take that over what we're staring down the barrel of at this point.

I'd offer Robinson double or triple his current contract to entice him to Red Hill.
