Worst Buys of 2017

Worst signing team:

1. Hayne
2. Lee
3. Copley
4. Sarginson
5. Turner
6. Lolohea
7. Foran
8. Tamou
9. Farah
10. Sims
11. Williams
12. Proctor
13. Dodds

14. Mead
15. Myles
16. Idris
17. Carter

Mead is still up there as one of the worst buys.

Did well off the bench, but when he started he was shocking.

Still had a worst season than Jarryd Hayne. Hayne actually played quite well in quite a few games and was building nicely with the spine.. And then Henry changed it around again.

Dale Copley would also be one of the seasons worst buys. Started off well for the Titans, but just went downhill from there. He has never been able to recapture his 2014 form and I don't think he ever will.

Jamal Idris is another. Just wasn't able to live up to the hype surrounding his signing, some underwhelming performances and then got injured.

Paul Carter for the Roosters. He was a mixed bag and then got the sack for getting in trouble off-field again.
Hayne has played well only in 1 game vs the sharks this yr, he has been a total disaster and it will continue well into 2018.

When Mead has started he has been shocking? lets not go overboard here. he hasnt started much and some of them like the Roosters and Manly game he was quite good. Anyway he cant stay like this he has to get out

Serious question here and this goes to everyone..

Does anyone actually watch the Titans games? Or do they just listen to the media bashing and hop on board?

Here's a few games to watch, this is a few examples of the good games Hayne had.

Round 8 vs Sharks.
Round 9 vs Knights.
Round 16 vs Tigers.

Those are a few examples.. I'll give the rest when you watch those games.

In terms of contract value, Hayne has been a disaster. But when it just comes to amount of good performances, Hayne still had more than Mead and most of the other players in the worst buy list.

Granted, Mead did well against Manly, I forgot about that one. I'll give Mead that one.

Was Hayne good in their win over the Storm?

I don't think the fact Hayne possibly five or six good games makes a difference for these reasons:

1. The money he is on is what you pay for a guy who gives you great performances week in, week out, with the occasional shocker understandable. But not five to six good to possibly very good at best games and possible the same amount or there about equally bad to very bad.

2. He has a perceived attitude problem and rubs people the wrong way to the point many of his own team's fans would be happy to see the back of him.

3. He got the coach sacked deliberately, regardless of whether that is the right move or not (which it is), to take on a him or me attitude is pathetic from a guy on his wage.

You're talking about a bloke who makes a living from playing really well in 9 games a few years ago. 5 or 6 good games a season is actually pretty good for him.

In November of 2016, the Gold Coast Titans thought all their Christmas' had come at once. After years of off-field drama they had finally freed themselves of Greg Bird and replaced him with Kiwi International Kevin Proctor. It was a homecoming of sorts for Proctor who had been a star junior on the Coast, but little did the Gold Coast know what laid ahead. A series of injuries kept Proctor from playing his best football, but of concern was Proctor's drug bust following the Australia vs New Zealand test match. While Proctor took his punishment like a man, the incident exposed Proctor's mind-set and just how little he was taking his career seriously. For a guy that was supposed to usher in a new era at the Gold Coast, so far it seems like more of the same old shit.

Sticking with the Gold Coast Titans and after signing the likes of Ash Taylor, Nathan Peats & Konrad Hurrell many thought their fortunes were about to change. However there was one signing that confused even the most ardent of Gold Coast's supporters - Wigan Warrior's centre Dan Sarginson. Playing more like a wide running second row, Sarginson enjoyed reasonable success in the English Super League where he went onto represent England in the Four Nations. However, Dan never appeared to have the necessary skills or attributes to make it in the NRL, a lesson Gold Coast supporters learned relatively quickly during a frustrating run of 5 games that may rank right up there as some of the worst performances on the Gold Coast. As easy as it is to blame everything on Hayne, some of these signing decisions highlight just how deep these issues really are.

Here are a few 'didn't even make the grade' signings. Players that had a reasonable shot of playing first grade, but didn't feature at all when it was all said and done.

Jordan Turner - Canberra Raiders
Manaia Cherrington - Cronulla Sharks/Warriors
Liam Knight - Sydney Roosters/Canberra Raiders
Rory Kostjasyn - Newcastle Knights
Richard Kennar - Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs
George Jennings - Parramatta Eels
Jonathan Wright - Manly Sea Eagles
Jack Williams - Cronulla Sharks
Mitchell Dodds - Brisbane Broncos
A number of those players had injuries

Jonathan Wright has got to be close to the shittiest player to play over 100 games.

That was Henry.

Hayne stated he would leave if that's what they wanted.

That was an empty gesture from Hayne.

He knew the wouldn't be able to find a taker for him at that time of the season given his contract value

Darren Lockyer has his own way towards Toowoomba, Moga needs his own Moga Way the **** out of Queensland.
