The Titans were so poor today It got me thinking what are the worst club teams in the game's history. I'm just going to do the teams in my lifetime and one's I've seen.

South Sydney 2002-2006 (a club living in the 50's playing in the 21st century, the takeover saved them completely)
Cronulla 2009 and 2014
Western Suburbs 1998 and 1999
Wests Tigers 2001
Parramatta 2012 and 2013
Northern Eagles (not the worst results but that joint venture was so dispirited how they managed any decent results is amazing)
South Queensland Crushers 1995-1997
The Cowboys back in the early 2000's and late 90's were crappy

These teams are of the top of my head (Not including the Rams as they weren't given any chance to establish themselves in Aussie Rules territory)

The current raiders team is pretty crappy

The earliest one I can remember is Penrith in 1980. They won two games all year.

Titans are not so bad, they stopped Warriors from scoring 50.

Annandale or University or something like that, probably.

2009 Roosters side was hilariously woeful.

I saw a similar thread to this on leagueunlimited, one poster said this would be their likely strongest side

1. Brett Hodgson
2. Ken McGuinness
3. Kevin McGuinness
4. Andrew Leeds
5. Justin Brooker
6. Leo Dynevor
7. Shane Perry
8. Harvey Howard
9. Ciriaco Mescia
10. John Skandalis
11. Matthew Spence
12. Adam Bristow
13. Steve Georgallis

14. Matthew Fuller
15. Ray Cashmere
16. Darren Fritz
17. Luke Goodwin/Dane Dorahy

And people whinge about our depth players lol.

Shane Perry is a premiership winning halfback...

I would have their eight and ten playing for the Broncos anytime. Two bloody champions. In fact one of them did play for us and was tremendous. I used to watch him in the two or three seasons before when he worked his guts out for a totally shithouse Wests and was over the moon when WB signed him for us. I knew what we were getting and wished we had Harvey the three or so years before as well. Skandalis was a good prop too and I'd swap our two starters for these anytime.

Yeah I always like Harvey Howard Huge, wish he came earlier tbh, tough and uncompromising. He really stood up for us in 2000.

I agree that Skandalis and Howard were good, but not better than Parker or McGuire, come on.

I wasn't including Parker in our starters in the front row. I know I should have been clearer but I haven't considered Parker in the front row as good coaching. What I should have said was McGuire and any other front rower we have. Yes, I very definitely mean I would take Harvey Howard over McGuire. He was better than McGuire and would have been valued in today's game at the very top end. He had more size and the same or better endurance ( given modern coaching, nutrition etc )

I do not expect you to agree nor am I trying to change your opinion . I just remember him shining like a beacon in a sea of mediocrity, playing huge minutes and single handedly keeping a team of Neville's in the contest. He was hard as nails, strong like an ox and seemed to be a nice bloke off field. Deservedly won a gf. Great pickup by WB. One of his most astute. Skandalis was excellent and while probably not better than McGuire he was likely as good. So yeah, still would have those two before McGuire and anyone else.

Both Skando & Howard were fine players but I wouldn't take their 1999 seasons over McGuire's 2014 season.

Skando wouldn't play his best football until 2002 and even then it wouldn't be until 2005 where I would put him in McGuire's company.

Howard on the other hand was serviceable but was very one dimensional, lacing the skills that McGuire possess. A handy toiler to be sure and one of Bennett's astute signings, but never considered one of the marquee props in the game either. If he was, I doubt Benny would have been so desperate to recall Webcke nor play a young backrow like Dane Carlaw infront of him.

Interesting topic all the same.

Trying to think more recent and I think the only team that can really compare to the Wests outfit (without losing half their squad) would be the Rabbitohs circa 2002/03 when they were rushed into the competition.

Forgetting about roster and depth issues - there were some fugly teams in 2008. Bulldogs with Brent Crisp, Daniel Holdsworth and Ben Roberts running around in their spine...Cowboys with Mark Henry, Sione Faumuina & Anthony Watts as their 1-6-7...

Penrith that year!

Seriously, if the Broncos weren't playing such expansive footy, 08 would rank right up there as one of the worst years.
