Even though I bet on the bunnies it still sucks to concede so many points.

For me the turning point was Staggs throwing the ball forward after we made a break, souths scored straight after that which killed any chance of keeping it close.

We still have a lot to learn.

Invaluable lessons should be learned from that game last night.

Respect possession, patience, and trust should be the top 3 IMO.

We are still a young football side with lots of growing to do so no need for the 'end of the world' carry on by some people in here 😕

Next weekends bounce back will be a thing of beauty

Nope. Can't defend that one. He'll be charged and if lucky (grade 1) might only get a fine.
idk imo should be penalty report and play on sin bin is a bit much you get less for making contact to the head with a swinging arm.

Does anyone find it ironic that if souffs had 3 of their top 6 or 7 players out and we had our fulll team, and we beat them like this we'd still be getting called pretenders?????

I thought the 1st half tactics were good. Just lacked patience. Can get away with that if you have strong defence 100% of the time. Mrc and Klein didn't help us, but seeing souffs on the nrl draw you should anticipate those things.

Few things to note. Capewell... big fan of what he brings attitude-wise, but these lapses in defence are costing us big time. Maybe he isn't an 80 min man anymore, his contact is so poor sometimes. Arthurs is a good fill in but ffs we miss Oates over this next month. The teams we are facing will get numbers in the tackles and it's something Oates made 10m with anyway out of our end. Cobbo is better this year with the yardage but still not in Oates league. Jock madden needs to fix his defence to even be considered a reliable back up and post Reynolds temporary fix. We lack size on the bench. Jensen and hethrington are both guns, great players, but jensen should be starting with flegler off the bench so we have size there! The big forward is definitely back in and you can't have 2 small middles on the field at the same time. Look at the Cowboys and the titans for examples of the small middles not working.

He's a little bit predictable in that 9 times out of 10, he'll step off his left, stall the momentum and head back infield. Doing that is fine if it turns up on the scoreboard, but unfortunately that's rarely the case.

His style of play would kill it on the wing, even swapping places with Arthars, but I can't see that ever happening. Wasn't his night, tonight, apart from that.
When there were those reports of Mariner training at centre I hoped for a moment that Herbie would fill Oates rolll and Mariner would play centre

Wouldve allows Herbie to somewhat replace Oates kick returns

I have more tact than some who come here and attack me after winning against a team that I didn't even support. Payne was a big loss as I said pre game. Just a reminder we were without Keaon and Havilli tonight as well. I did say ypur chances would depend on how you perform against a decent team who completes high. The next few weeks are scary.
I know I shouldn't feed the trolls but PISS OFF MORON!

Hey now, what's good for the goose is good for the gander. I have atleast been respectful. When you guys beat the panthers I was called out specifically for some reason, now our respective teams have actually played and I've given my insight. This is a public forum after all.

Maybe this will finally be the lesson that you can't beat the good teams by trying to constantly pull off hail mary plays. It doesn't work. They will make you pay for it and that's exactly what happened.

That lesson should have been learnt a long time ago and drilled into the side. Gotta put that down to Kevvie allowing them to continue doing it.

Do the basics right, complete your sets, kick to the corners, have good line speed in defence, eventually the opposition will capitulate and that's when you pull the trigger and blow them away.

Rugby League is a very simple game but we like to make it fucking difficult for ourselves.

Doesn't seem like the Webcke/Parker incident where Webcke was being taken off the field. But of course, it's a "minor" incident this time so no question of Souths losing the two points even temporarily.

wasn't it when Staggs kicked on the 2nd tackle when we were on full attack? Either way, two of his attacking mistakes led to immediate tries for Souths. I actually lost count of the amount of screw ups Staggs committed last night. Think that was his worst game of his career.

Herbie brings a lot to the table but also hurts us. Yes, lots of line and tackle breaks but he almost always makes the wrong decision (e.g. holding the ball, cutting back in). Last night in 5 mins he dropped a bomb leading to a try and then got sent to the bin next set. That's poor.

Not going to be too critical on Madden. He didn't have that many miss tackles and because the forwards were dominated he didn't have much space to do anything. First game so I'm going to cut him some slack.

Cobbo was solid. There was one lazy one-handed attempt on grabbing onto a pass but I think the rest of the passes were just poor. If he didn't have Staggs inside of him he probably would have scored a couple of tries. His kick returns are getting much better. Not quite at Oates level but much better than previous.

At the end of the day we just couldn't slow their play the ball down. They just kept rolling down the field. It shows the importance of a great dummy half, which we don't have.

We've got to bounce back next week.

Good analysis. I think paix was our weak link in the hooker role the last two weeks. Billy has actually surprised me a little bit.

We did really well in the first half, even without Haas we competed through the middle. The big concern is the metres they made in the 2nd half. They absolutely dominated the ruck.

Staggs had some truly mind blowing errors and Capewell was again putrid in defence. Carrigan really needs to shelf his offload until he develops it, at the moment he is early career Parker and just throwing it anytime he can without seeing if it will be good or not, and mostly they are garbage offloads. Cobbo and Reynolds had awesome games.
