I'd go this backline next year:

1. Signing, even a stop gap one like Drinkwater / Hughes, if we must - Milford
2. Coates
3. Bird (Opacic if Bird moves on which I hope he doesn't)
4. Isaako
5. Farnworth
6. Staggs
7. Dearden

It's probably @Huge. He loves taking a woeful bet because the odds are a massive number.
You're right, the odds are astronomical. I mean how could Souths possibly win when Sportsbet had them at more than three dollars just like the Titans today. If the 7 less favoured teams do the unthinkable (? really?) I get a million dollars. That's a million dollars for a $5 investment. The first legs up against the odds and it wasn't even close. When you are able to spend a 1,000 bucks on a night out, without a care, what's $5?

I must be mad because that doesn't seem to me to be too crazy.

Yep I sure did. I thought he was a pointless signing at the time and still think he has been an absolute waste of money since but I don't want the club to subsidise a single cent of his salary next year for him to play for someone else. If they do so, his signing will go down on Martin Kennedy and Ben Barba levels of total stuff ups which this board has a pretty long list of now.

However, Bird can play and since the club doesn't need the money (unless they could somehow get Smith), he should be in the team. As much as he is on too much money, I've never once doubted his ability.

Yes, I'm joking. Enjoy. As a shift worker of over 40 years I certainly identify.

I'm with Sproj here - always questioned why the hell we even needed him in the first place. But next year, the dude is literally playing for his career. If he goes down again or has a crap year, he's finished.
Unless someone wants him on 80%+ of his wage, let's take the punt and see if he has an absolute cracker of a year. He's overdue. If he gets injured again - he has to be retired. 3 seasons on the sidelines - no club will touch him.

If he goes down next year, I believe that will be four years on the sideline.

I'm watching the replay of the Rabbits game, man Bennett must feel so lucky to have Cody Walker. He is basically what Milford would be if he had any semblance of work ethic and competitiveness. If I were the incoming coach, I would say look at him, study him and if you can't do that anymore, you're out of here or in reserve grade.
