Re: PRE-GAME - Round 22 - Canterbury Bulldogs

Does Ash Taylor still stand a chance of a call up if Hunt can't play?

Different Kahu. That was his brother.

Are you sure? I'm fairly certain Jordan also played 6 in the juniors for a period

Well, after what the MRC said on Monday, I hope to see this on Friday. First tackle from the kick off.

Good hit this one. Sims and Taylor smashing Kite.

Re: PRE-GAME - Round 22 - Canterbury Bulldogs

Jordan Kahu made his NYC debut at 6 against the Cowboys in 2010.

I believe he only lasted two weeks in the position, he suffered some sort of injury and found himself on the wing a week or so later.

It's an interesting dilemma to have, because Hunt does more kicking than anybody else in the competition by a wide margin (56 more than SJ as of Round 20) so I don't think you can just replace him with a Kahu and call it a day. However, if it's for a game or so, can you really rely on Ash Taylor to come in for just one game when he's got to deal with all the added responsibility of first grade?

I think Ben Hunt will be right to play, but an interesting what if scenario.

Re: PRE-GAME - Round 22 - Canterbury Bulldogs

We'd probably move Milf to halfback, Kodi to five eighth, Parcell to utility

Re: PRE-GAME - Round 22 - Canterbury Bulldogs

Kahu played some five-eight, but the bulk of his career has been at fullback, where he did show some playmaking skills... certainly would beat Hoggman!

If Hunt is out, Taylor would be the logical choice, even if he is on his way to the Tits, although I could see Nikorima slot in there with Macca playing 80 minutes at hooker.

Re: PRE-GAME - Round 22 - Canterbury Bulldogs

That's probably the most likely option, but it runs into the same problems. Nikorima doesn't really have a kicking game to speak of and plays more like a run-first ask questions later style half.

The take-home: pray for Hunt.

I'd be surprised if it wasn't Nikorima in the halves (if Hunt is out). Macca to take up the kicking slack if required.

First game that I'm attending this season. In a mother fuckin corporate box.

So we will probably lose.

I hope not... disaster impending. Hunt's kicking has been improving gradually, but other than Milf's quite reasonable short kicking and Macca's occasional attempt, we have very little in that dept. I'd rather have Taylor than Niko, inexperienced or not!

From the little I have seen Taylor can put up a good high kick so he should be able to match Hunt's kicking for distance which is what we heavily rely on when we let the other team steamroll up the field.

It would be too much to leave that to Macca.
His 40/20 kicks definitely help but obviously he will be tied up most of the time.

Re: PRE-GAME - Round 22 - Canterbury Bulldogs

The only two viable options are taylor to 7 or macca to 7 with a mixture of waddell/knik/parcell handling hooker.

It would be someone that is already in the side.

I can't see Taylor getting a shot.
