Certainly a game of two halves tonight. One perfect and one woeful from our boys. Macca was immense in the first half. Really encouraging signs from Norman and Wallace. Our spine is developing nicely. I thought Gillett was pretty poor tonight. He mad many strange decisions in defense. The main thing is we got the 2 points and we didn't get any injuries.

Ben Hannant was once again our best IMO. Not impressed with Gillett at all. Hoffman dropped a few bombs too, not a great performance by him either.

There were 3or 4 times when we didn't finish off a tackle and that really hurt us. Happy to beat the dragqueens tho

The torso try can gtfo

Have to agree about Hannant. He has gone to another level this season. Last year he was pretty lackluster but this year he has been HUGE. I thought Petro played his best game sine returning to the Broncos as well.

Why did Hook take Macca off after 30!!! I get having Hunt there but when Macca is causing major headaches why take him off??? Such a Henjak move.

Seems I'm not the only one to disagree with you:

Gillett was pure class for the Broncos. He was influential in attack and defence and was the best player on the park. He even bounced back from being flattened by Michael Weyman in the first half, making it a compelling State of Origin audition for the talented backrower. That form is just too good to ignore."

Norman's decision making in D is currently not up to scratch. Every week he's having numbers thrown at him and inevitably he will come up with a poor read. I've never understood halves who make poor decisions in defence. He has some great defenders in Glenn and Reed in support, it should only be a matter of time before he improves. Gillett rushing up also worries me.. He was sapped from the early exchanges, possibly affected by a head knock too. However, back to the bench plz.

Can't read too much into the second half - the Dragons were out of it so decided to play some high risk footie. unluckily for us, they were able to pull it off.

Credit to Wallace, again he was fantastic. I can't wrap him enough. He has gone up a gear this year and is the heart and soul of this footie team. Plenty of humble pie to be eaten on this forum.

BTW, how good is Locky's sideline commentary! Consistently insightful.

Anderson is crap he added nothing when he came on. In fact the bench was underwhelming tonight

I didn't think Gillett was too bad either. Put on a couple of really good shots in the first bit that really put the Drags out of sorts. Granted I need to watch a replay but I didn't think he was too bad. Hannant was immense, Civoniceiva is building nicely, Glenn was strong, Thaiday was mixed as was Te'o and McGuire was a little subdued but was breaking tackles like a mother. Sanderson was the only ordinary forward...but every team has one. When Hala is right, we'll be sweet.

It's incredible to think Parker is yet to comeback. We'll go up another notch IMO.

Agreed on Locky, I've heard some NSWtards bag him but I can't fault anything he says and it isn't just some regurgitated info ala Joey or dribble ala Freddy.

Gillett wasn't bad. He just didn't have the same consistent impact he has had off the bench. Might be able to put that down to the head knock, though. I'm keen to see him start on the pine because he's such a damaging weapon for us. With no more 'bomb to Yow Yeh' his strong ball carries and offloads are a real go to play.

Parkers a huge loss. The pressure he consistently puts on kickers is irreplaceable.

Full credit to Wallace. Outstanding tonight. I thought Gillett was great.

hannant was superb. Macca too.

Happy with the win but the lack of intensity in the second half was poor. Could see it coming though.

Fantastic first half, but the second was really disappointing for mine.

Macca, Hannant and Wallace were our best IMO.

I've bagged Wallace in the past (quite rightly), but he's really stepped up this season and is starting to put together some of the same performances he did in his first year at the Broncos. Delighted he's doing so well.

Hannant was huge. He's a different player these days. His running game is perhaps not as dynamic as it once was, but he's much more of an all-rounder than he once was. His defensive game tonight was huge.

On another note, I think it's time to drop Anderson... tell me Hala is nearly ready to come back in. He wasn't on for long tonight, but he made absolutely no impact at all. When you're the fresh man off the bench, you should be demanding the ball, looking to run. There was one instance where we were really struggling and he was miles away from the ruck, forcing our dummy-half to throw a 10/15 metre pass to get the ball to him. Sometimes I wonder if he's got the mentality to play week in, week out in the NRL. Probably a bit harsh, but I'm not a fan of his. :cheesy:

Hannant and Macca were absolutely brilliant tonight and Wallace continues to perform at a higher level than I thought was possible. I'm not ashamed to admit I have been very wrong about Wallace this year.

As for Gillett, he wasn't dominant, but some of the things that he did tonight were just classy. First he trails Beale's kick in the final 10mins to put us 12 in front and then he made that tackle on Young in the final few minutes to stop what would have been a very close finish. His instinct to be in the right place at the right time is just epic!

As for Teo, I think tonight he showed why everyone thinks him to be so expendable.

Also, the second Hala is fit he needs to come in for Anderson. Hala has the potential to explode for 20minutes which is really all we need out of that 4th prop.

Great first half, our D was crap in the second big drop in intensity. I thought Gillett was good but still prefer he came off the bench.

How soft is Ben Creagh? Wallace just owned him in defence.

Agreed with first 40 being their best performance of the season so far. Andrew mccullough probably played the best game of his life. And at the end of the day 20-28 is a respectable scorline, it should've been a close game heading into it with the Dragons previous 2 games.

I agree with the majority, Wallace, Hannant and Macca were our best tonight. i thought Wallace's kicking game in the first half was brilliant, he kept finding grass. I also think that Wallace has put himself right back into origin contention. IMO, he is in the best form of any of the NSW half backs.
