So waqa dropped the ball cold and the storm won by one point, but you don't think they screwed us??? I'm all for being hard on the team but gees

Also that call was consistent with nothing except the inconsistency shown by the refs week in and week out. Grounding with the torso only applies if you don't knock the ball on in the first place FFS

The far greater contributing event to the cause of that try (IMO about 80%) was Hoffman's error in the rush and plant. The fact that Waqa almost dropped the ball over the line is somewhat irrelevant when he shouldn't have been in the position to score in the first place. If it's a no try call, it's sheer luck (or perhaps contributred by the herculean effort from Reed) for the Broncos that it happened that way so you can't be hardly done by if it's called a try. Why should the Broncos be advantaged by essentially Hoffman's own error?

hahah wtf. in every single dubious decision this year i'm sure you could go back 10 or 15 metres and find a missed tackle. its entirely irrelevant. he dropped the ball and the try should not have been awarded.

and just FYI i'm not blaming the loss on the refs.

I get your not blaming the refs, but to answer I'm not talking about 10 or 15 metres back, I'm talking about directly proximate errors (like Hoffman's) prior to the try being scored.

Like the Farah boot in Origin - same deal. He either fluked a boot accidentally in the way (sheer luck, and Inglis would have scored without the boot) or he kicked at it and the right decision was made. Team that rely on technicalities and luck in decisions shouldn't feel that hardly done by and should look elsewhere for the blame/real cause.

seem like u hate poor lil hoffy

Re: Round 24 - Broncos vs Storm - Post Match Discussion

from where i was sitting, and from the replays ive seen, hes dropped the ball backwards onto his torso - so at worst its knock-back and a try anyway, so its not worth crying over. by the rules, its a try.

Nah he's one of my favourties. I'm interested to see where his head is at though and being forced to play out of position you might be pissed off at the coach for making you play there and letting down your mates.

Re: Round 24 - Broncos vs Storm - Post Match Discussion

yeah, its a possibility. i hope not. one for all and all for one, etc.

all a bit convenient really. hoffy misses a week and norman takes his spot. mcguire 1 week injury when he really needed a rest.

;)

Exactly, and there is not a single person watching it at home or in the stadium that would have, in real time, noticed it unless they saw the replay

because the camera was from behind his back :)

look, its irrelevant. we played well. we didnt get the 2 pts in the game. thats all that matters now. we just have to win this week!

Hahaha what? Waqa knocked the ball on. How does hoffmans bad read in defence have anything to do with it. Are you suggesting that everytime a player bombs a try, if the opposition missed a tackle, then it should be awarded anyway?

Does harrigon know you spend some much time on these forums Paul?

Re: Round 24 - Broncos vs Storm - Post Match Discussion

I get what subs is saying. That, Brisbane had a fair chance at denying the try but ultimately failed because of a poor defensive effort but by the same token, you have to earn your try. Sisa Waqa simply didn't & Harrigan confirmed this on that article.

A shame, but it's spilt milk at this stage.

Re: Round 24 - Broncos vs Storm - Post Match Discussion

Eh, I don't agree with some of harrigans explanations and in the waqa case I don't. From everything I saw, the ball came backwards from his hands so it's a knock-back at best.

Or are people suddenly going to claim Harrigan never makes mistakes now that he's saying something went against the broncos?

Re: Round 24 - Broncos vs Storm - Post Match Discussion

Everyone in league are saying it wasn't a try except AP & Bellamy.

Yeah what you say is all well and good, except the ball travelled forward and is therefore a knock on. It doesnt matter at this point, I can just not see how anyone could think it went back... even the try scorer couldnt believe it was awarded

In your opinion. Like I said, in my opinion it went backwards, hence benefit of the doubt.

Gee, I didn't see that one coming... :001_rolleyes:
