Yeah, Anthony Millford is a player to watch, looks to have great vision and passing game. He is a natural 6

I can't believe we didn't clone Cyril. That's where we truly failed.

In a serious note, I hope the Broncos are foxing....saying they're not going after big guns, but really they're negotiating in private.

Don't read too much into Gee or White saying we're not looking at anyone outside. For so long every player that came on the market was "being pursued by the Broncos", remember? So they're just trying to stop that rumour and innuendo everytime a player is off contract. Because it impacts negotiations.

The Broncos have always been a club that looks first to its junior ranks, and scouts Queensland-wide junior talent to bring through from the time they're in high school. But they've always been savvy enough to shop around to bolster areas where the talent either isn't strong enough, or is developing too slowly for the immediate future.

Lazarus was a case in point. The Broncos were weak up front. Brought him in, and by the time he left in 1997, we had Shane Webcke emerging as a rep-standard prop and Petero Civoniceva was a year away.

Right now it's clear we have a deficiency in the halves. The Broncos will keep saying they have faith in Hunt, Norman, Kahu et al unless they have a viable option to sign from outside.

I think we should hire 20 more scouts.

after sacking the ones we do have.

They've done a piss poor job when you look at how many other teams in the NRL are filled with young QLD talent.

Well some of these kids better become stars otherwise we are going to have a bit of trouble.

Can you name another club that has produced from its stocks in the past 18 months 2 origin players (Gillett, Yow Yeh) and 4 internationals (Glenn, Beale, Hoffman, Reed).

Give control of this team to Macca, Hunt and Norman and you've got a dynasty in the making.

Those three defer to Wallace because he's the senior play maker.

Three young blokes, thrown together, answerable to each other, owners of the team as peers rather than senior/junior "sorry boss". With greater responsbility they'd thrive.

Not much good with Wallace and Norman in the halves though.

Considering you used 4 non Aussies as internationals I think that's a pretty loaded way to describe something. Glenn is gun but the other 3 are by no means stars and all had their struggles this year. And even then, Glenn didn't debut in the last 18 months. Neither did Yow Yeh.

So if we are talking players produced since the time Glenn and YY arrived Manly have DCE, Foran and to a lesser extent Buhrer.

Dogs have Reynolds and Kasiano.

We have had good forwards come through but we haven't dominated the youth ranks and the internationals argument is just weak as piss.

We certainly need some of these kids to become marquee players. I feel we lack a real marquee player now Lockyer is gone.

Everyone is all for young talent when we're winning. The moment the team looks like maybe they aren't going to come close to a premiership, everyone wants to buy every player on the open market.

The fact that some of the people calling for new coaches, new players, new staff etc. have accused me of being negative in the past is absolutely laughable.

We only want to buy 1 attacking half, no one is suggesting wholesale changes.

You're cutting the edges of my argument but not addressing the key point: the Broncos are the best producers of talent in the NRL and I'm using representative football as the only quantative guage of that available.

But anyway, for fun, Kasiano hasn't played representative football but if we're including probables then add Josh McGuire for the Broncos. And Reynolds?

DCE has played 2 tests (one where he didn't even get on the field from memory) but I'll give you Foran. So 1, maybe 2 questionably genuine representative players from one club versus 6 from the Broncos.

Dane Gagai and Corey Norman as 1 & 6 in the Junior Kangaroos suggests we might have had a bit more in youth ranks than you give credit for. Kurt Baptiste as well for what its worth. So 1, 6 and 9 from our 2011 Toyota Cup team in the Junior Kangaroos.

It's not about rep players but good ones. I don't care how many tests DCE has played, he's the best player to come through in 2 years. You can use rep footy as a barometer for saying we are the best at producing talent but reality doesn't support that. We haven't fallen drastically behind or anything but it's not giving us an advantage.

I still think we produce good forwards but we have a cod ordinary record of developing halves and hookers and that's where we are failing.

Justin Hodges and Thaiday are marquee players.

How quickly do you expect a kid to become a marquee footballer? Give it a couple of seasons.

Can you offer a better objective barometer and not just your opinion?

Or is it unless they produce a premiership (like DCE), they are rubbish?

I agree that DCE is the best genuine half to come out of the NRL for the past two years, but that doesn't mean Manly are the best at producing talent (and in fact DCE's a Qlder!)
