I really struggle to think of what his natural position is. As he loses his youthful speed and gets confused about his role as a half, considering his height, blossoming size and lack of game management, I wonder if there's a better halves combo that doesn't rely on future potential and paying retention overs.

The question that I have is quite simple - why hasn't he committed already, by personally stating his loyalty or signing? To me, this speaks plenty of his character, just like his whining post tackle before playing the ball. It seems it's all about him.

He has.

He came out publicly and said that he only wants to stay at the Broncos, that he doesn't want to leave the Broncos and that he only wants to talk to the Broncos and no one else. These contract situations take time, especially when the salary cap situation is still up in the air. At the moment, there has been nothing to confirm that he is even talking to any other club.

A couple of unconfirmed reports come out, one of those factually incorrect, and people are very quick to turn on him...

Instead of the media going out and confirming this, they instead decide to post a quote from a player made weeks ago in regards to Widdop going to the Storm.
 
Apparently storm offer is $5 mill over 4 yrs.
Hopefully thats bullshit , because it is a great offer

If that's the case then it wouldn't be hard to match it when you consider what the Broncos have reportedly offered him.

Maybe they don't want to match it. They don't have an unlimited cap and have 24 other players to try and squeeze in. 900k a season is more than enough for Milf. If it isn't, then good luck to him.
 
How much do the media hate us right now? I know there are more than a few journos with a Bennett ring-stinger right now, and every cool League show has a weekly How The Broncos Got Lucky With The Refs segment, but is there genuine angst against the Broncos?

Is some of this Milford shit being drummed up in order to sabotage his signing? Look at all the butthurt over Bird. It was unprecedented, but again, there is a Sharks link there with the DT.

Or are they just sucking on the Everyone Hates The Broncos teat because it gets clicks now that we're genuine threats again?

After you said this l read through 10+ different article's various outlets and best l found was multi million 4 year deal. No outrage, no drama all positive. Complete opposite to the treatment we cop.

Little bit of consistency would be nice but what can you expect from ppl who think Bondi is magnificent and world famous.

I definitely believe the media have a vendetta against the broncs. I'd love a thread to post all the hypocritical situations that occur (peats no try on the weekend being one that didn't even garner a mention teddy contract $$$ being another).

However in saying that I mentioned before that none of this talk existed prior to Ben Ikin raising a query on where milf was at on NRL 360 a few days ago.

From that it wouldn't take much for a journo to call ayoub and ask what's happening and if anyone else had shown interest. The quotes from ayoub were Melbourne have enquired but not formally offered anything. Journo has his story and goes off to start typing assuming the storm could offer as much as what Cronk was on.

It all sounds like a beat up as I don't believe ayoub even indicates how long ago Melbourne enquired. Yet the media have now decided that he's had enough time to charter a private plane to Melbourne in the pissing down rain to have a sit down with Bellamy despite them knowing nothing at all prior to Monday... oh and now apparently Melbourne have had enough time between now and Monday to table a $5m deal.

They basically run the game at this point, it wouldn't surprise me if they had the power to fabricate a player movement rumour and just feed it so much fuel that it becomes a real thing.

This is true. In what universe does Paul Kunt bait Bennett into going off at a press briefing except in the one that exists in 2017

I was actually very proud of Bennett in that exchange. He simply said the "journalist" made up the story and moved on. When the next day Kent started up about his personal life and called him a liar Bennett did not bite back. All he did was quash the story that Benji was horrified, probably only for his players' sake.
