Although I find the whole situation pretty gross, it looks like Seibold came through with the winning blow in this game of thrones.


Bennett played everyone like a fiddle but the ‘leaked’ Seibold email carefully outlining evidence of Bennett’s potentially contract breaching behaviour involving Souths was a dirty little checkmate. The worrying thing is, Bennett is far too Machiavellian for this to be the end of it all. I hope Seibold is up to the challenge.

He may have, but it's only guessing. The club, the chairman, the CEO, Rabbitoh's CEO, the assistant coach, WB himself, all on the record have said the plan was to always coach in 2019.

If the club wanted to sack him, they should have conjured up the balls and did it immediately at the end of the season, not wait till 1 day out from pre-season.

If they're sacking him because he allegedly was active in Souths operations then that's a different story, and I would want the club to be transparent about that. And if that's the case, why would WB puppeteer that? He gets no money in that scenario.

You make some good points, and while he’s a clever bloke, I feel the Board knew he’s driven by ego, and were waiting for him to misstep before pulling the trigger, avoiding the payout.

They knew he’d try and work out his squad for 2020 (and to be fair, who wouldn’t), and all they had to do was wait and continually back him until he forced their hand.

Everybody lost. This entire mess has been a horrible look for everyone involved, but especially for the Broncos board in particular for mine. With this being the ultimate outcome now, you could honestly say they could've ended this circus a month ago and saved the club a lot of drama.

Yeah the board is to blame indirectly for not knowing who they were dealing with, they should've absolutely known that Bennett would've done anything to **** with us while he was still here, it was delusional of us to believe he was going to leave quietly with his tail between his legs, it was always going to be scorched earth shit with him. Should've sacked him 2 months ago.

So when they stir up crap it’s reliable and we should jump up and down about the mess that’s been created, but when the media are forced by reality to report the situation as it always has been it’s not reliable and the club has to come out and ensure clarity?

That's what it looks like to me, they essentially waited it out to get him sacked without pay, because any coach in the world is going to be making some decisions for the following year.

Smart move to save money, shit move for the fans.

I'm a huge WB fan but I'm a Broncos fan first, and I really couldn't care less if he's sacked as long as Seibold comes through and is actually an improvement. The way Souths faded out last year is hugely concerning, and we've signed him on huge money for 5 years, so for all our sake he better be a genuinely good coach or it's going to be a long few years.

Well, don't I feel like a right idiot! I was convinced Bennett would not be coaching us next year for a variety of reasons but looks like I was wrong all along.

I think I owe big apologies to a few people, in particular - John1420, Dee, Huge and Cult3. Sorry lads if I got a bit carried away in my views, you were correct about Wayne and 2019 and I was obviously way off.

I still have my doubts as to if it can work out next year but the only thing I/we can, and should do now, is get behind the team and coach 100%!

Putting aside my disappointment in the shit storm that has played out, I'm actually genuinely excited.

This will be our first coach who hasn't come from our system, so there should be some genuine new ideas and change. I can only hope it's positive change, and he can get the playing group to rally behind him because he hasn't exactly come in on good terms.

Aa big a fan of WB as I am and will remain this had to happen.
Clearly there was plenty going on in the background which unfortunately was playing out publicly.
I just hope the playing group can be professional enough to get behind AS and he is a good enough man manager to get them to play for him.

Wayne tried to come out of this looking like the faultless victim. He failed badly. I used to respect the man deeply and was in favour of keeping him here until he retired, but now it’s looking like the club made the right move.

Seibold wouldn’t have reacted as he did without reason.

What a sad ending to Wayne’s broncos career. I’m grateful for all he has done for this club. But now that a change is coming, who else is excited to see what seibold will do with the likes of Milford, Roberts and Macca? I know I’m keen for the season to start now.
