OFFICIAL James Roberts granted immediate release

So this sounds as if Benny and Jimmy were planning this for some time. Benny says himself he had to throw everyone off the scent by lying.

Seems to me they contacted our player outside of the negotiation window. Broncos have let it go, but we're setting a bad precedent as being a soft touch club.

Seems to me we knew as well.

bullshit ... he was in really poor form ... we would have won any of our last 3 games (especially against the Roosters and Warriors) if he was playing

That’s impossible to say.

thought Souths were maybe third in the premiership winning order when GI retired...gotta put them right back up there now....kinda shows what a master coach can do...didn't panic when GI left...he planned instead...

Would have played hardball if I was CEO tbh. Wanna go back to Sydney for family reasons? Fine, but only the Panthers or Bulldogs. Cya.

how would Gagai be feeling ... he will be moved back to the wing because of Roberts

He should be happy. He’s an international-quality winger, but a Copley-spec centre.

Surprised also that he only scored 36 try for us....considering the centres we have had....thats kinda disappointing over 4 year career dont you think..?

The vindictive derick left him out of the team, what was he supposed to do. He'd make the origin team easy playing at NRL level with another club.
He'll make game 2 once Souths field him next week.

What was he supposed to do? Um, it's pretty simple. Work his ass off to get back in the side, which he didn't do. Instead spent the time sulking and kicking stones.

Who gives a **** that Boyd wasn't dropped? That's not an excuse for Roberts to have a piss poor attitude towards being dropped. That's the kind of attitude you expect from children, not adults.

such a shame about Birds injury too....im convinced Jack has a future here; losing him as well as Roberts is real unfortunate, but short term pain for long term gain is the play right now...I support the coach and the club as they rebuild and reshape this squad...

I’m assuming the same selection rules apply for Roberts as they did for us with Segeyaro. Wasn’t named in the 21 so not eligible to play.

Apart from Shibasaki giving away possession with all those school boy errors, we were fortuitously lucky enough to hang on for those wins.
Andrew McCullough's replacements should be given most of the credit though for the teams tranformation from celler dwellers to world beaters.

It isn't a matter of belief. It's a statement of fact. If you have evidence to the contrary and that WB had authority in the HR department (payroll) please present it to clear the air. As far as I know such decisions were the exclusive right of the board, paid employeees charged with that duty. Simple plain facts.

I have heard Anthony Seibold during an interview (Grange TV on YouTube) talk about the step up from being an assistant coach to a head coach, and he mentioned managing the salary cap as one of the extra requirements of being a head coach. It makes sense that the coach would have to have decent control over the salary cap so they can create the roster they want. I get that the board signs off on the contracts, but someone has to come up with a figure as to what a player is worth and I don't think board members are going to understand what a player is worth like a coach would.

Maybe the story is different for Wayne's recent stint at the Broncos, but the only thing I've read was an article in which Boyd and Bennett's agent (George Mimis) said that Bennett didn't have much to do with the details of Boyd's contract, other than wanting him around. I don't think George Mimis is going to throw Wayne under the bus and say yep, Wayne was the one who signed the out of form Boyd for 4 years, so he throws Paul White under the bus instead. I found an article from back when we signed him which reported that, "Wayne Bennett last night confirmed they have the funds to make Boyd a Bronco for life." I really don't think we can be certain how it all played out unless we were there, who ever really knows the details of what goes on behind closed boardroom doors?

Cya James, hopefully Wayne coaches until he’s 80 years old so that you can have a full career (barring any mishaps along the way...)

So let me get this right - you knew Benny was negotiating with one of our players and you said nothing about it?
In fact from your last comment, it seems you are happy condoning a rival team breaking the rules to encourage one of our players to jump ship.
Are you a Broncos supporter? Your cognitive dissonance is quite mind blowing.
