Half a report

Herbie by a mile out of those two but I wouldn't move him. His strength isn't anything you want at fullback. No kicking game and no passing game. He's turning into a great winger.

With Bird (hopefully stays) and Staggs full time next season at 3/4 - one of them is going to have to be a floater, would leave Shiba no where then? Assuming Coates grabs the wing spot permanently.

really feel its time for Perese to be given a shot at centre....at least for 1 game this year....give us some idea how close or far away he is from pushing for a first team run-on spot...

You can see how close or far away he is now, at the start of the year he didn't understand the basics of league, everything took him that split second of thinking was a game earlier in the season where he went to marker and clearly didn't understand the role.

He's got that under control now and he's got league smarter in attack he but certainly not in defence.

Last night was a classic example, run for miles score chip and chase try but defend a three on three- no he comes in and goes out and just gets done too often. He averages too many missed tackles and very bad reads in defence. Needs to refine that part of his game.

so...no different from Coates and JPD when they play centre.....:mmmmbop:

No big difference considering he is getting exposed in ISC , Your talking about NRL. Maybe watch him play , he leaves huge holes in there defensive line. Just think what good NRL teams would do to him , if average ISC teams are doing it.

I like the look of Farnsworth. There's just something about him that I like. I like his energy. He's tenacious. He's fast and lanky and seems like he's hard to tackle. We need that kind of body shape and energy out wide.

He hasn't done anything fantastic though. He's still a kid. Does he read the game well? How's his footy smarts? How's his defense? Can he pass well? Does he understand Centre play? We have to give him a chance.

Next season, I'd like to see the centre pairing of Bird and Farnsworth.

Staggs ?

Herbie Farnworth (Norths) – 4 tries, 9 goals, 16 runs, 176m, 25 post contact, 4 line breaks, 11 tackle breaks, 2 offloads

Ethan Bullemor (Norths, bench) – 48 mins, 14 runs, 134m, 51 post contact, 1 line break, 1 try assist, 4 tackle breaks

Some good numbers from the Norths boys last weekend.

Was really disappointed in how Paix was used on the weekend. I know he missed five weeks and Gamble has to be there but Paix was really starting to find some good form before Origin. The injury was a set back and now they have him on the bench.

The last round he played against the Hunters he was back to half and he was strong, against a weak team sure but still a good road trip away that's tough and he handled it. His defence was excellent against massive Hunters pack.

I don't think Donovan was good enough against the Cutters to make him must keep in the halves.

Then finals and he's back to the bench with 30 minutes playing time. I watched him closely and he is concentrating so hard on passing, getting calls right that he doesn't engage or run at all. He ran twice against Tweed, which is the opposite of what you want from your interchange hooker with 30 to go.

The repeat set he got was nice pressure but that was his only kick for the game. No running and no kicking.

Wasted.

Paix to seven. Had to be done.

Do you see Paix playing first grade next year?

Definitely second half of the year was a lot better, yesterday would have liked to see him take the ball in that last two minutes when they needed a try and have a crack at something. Work with Perese and get something going.

But I can see him being involved next year, but he needs to be sure what his role is and how he is going to do it. He seems to be in a couple of different minds at the moment and needs to sort out right this is how I am going to do it and why I am doing it.

May not come off sure but know what you want.
